a couple of my younger cousins came over once , i tried showing off a couple of games they were not interested in anything that had a story or was complex to play. Luckily one of them saw a game called bus driver in the steam library and the group took interest in it asap.

they spent the whole day taking turns to drive the bus and crash it mostly , seeing the trend i set up other simpler driving games like gta vice city (driving only no missions) and euro truck simulator , they were very extremely happy .

age of the kids probably 8-12

a pity none of these games are not on gog...

My kids will have to through at least one game from each year in chronological order starting with 1981.

The only downside is that they may give up on gaming before it takes off. Or that they will go play Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare 8 at friends' places behind my back. *shudder*
I don't hang out with many kids, but I know a friend of mine gave his Genesis to his niece and nephews so that probably says something. Can't tell you which games they actually play, though.
Im waiting until my oldest is 10 and then he's getting Leisure Suit Larry! :D
I'll be definitely teaching my kid(s) about gaming history one day, hope they'll like at least some of my favorite games. :)
Mr 5years seems to like spelunky, milk mine defenders, flatout 2 and various worms.

No English skills is ofcourse narrowing suitable games.

Oh, star control 2 super melee!
My 2 daughers ( 10, 8 ) play Giana Sisters and a couple of other platformers, but actually the older one tends to prefer Bigfish, and the younger is very much into "Pingus" and into DS games

My son (5) is found of using my time trying space games / flight sims, Red Baron, Freespace 2 and, recently, Tie Fighter. On his own, his prefered game is SyperTuxCart

But, all in all, GOG is lacking games that would be suitable for kids.
