I'd say Outcast looks too much like a dated normal action game. I'm sure it's not just that but I'll pass it for now.

Talking about passing up. Arcanum, Icewind dale and Planetscape are like Fallout and Baldur's Gate. Are they actually better or worse? To me it looks like Arcanum combines both Fallout and Baldur's Gate but can it actually replace them? Reviews are really mixed

The Fallout games are worth at least a second playthrough as a completely different character build (e.g. smarty-pants scientist instead of beefy warrior). Arcanum also shines in this regard.
