In the GOG Beta there was a "Wanted" page where users could suggest a game and other users could vote on it. I can't seem to find that link on the "Community" main page and it's not listed in the "Changes to the forums" topic either. Does the new GoG.com not do that anymore?
The GOG team obviously love seeing posts by new users saying "Hey have you heard of a game called Dungeon Keeper? It's really good and they should get that" for the 6 billionth time.

The thing is, though, there is a link to the wishlist in a pretty obvious place. The trouble is, though, no one ever looks in that obvious place.

Who'd ever think that a thread called "Welcome, please read!" could contain useful information? A stickied thread, no less.

Obvious? That's hardly obvious. You know as well as I do that "STICKY" is internet-lingo for "DO NOT READ!"

It's not even at the top of the page. :)

Honestly, if they want that to be read by at least a few people, it needs to stand out. Keep it at the top of the page and boost up the font size for the thread title.

And maybe give it a nice set of tits or something.

Take that passive-aggressive tone and choke.

The problem with "Welcome" is that it denotes something that should be read by brand new users. It also sounds like a topic with nothing more than a greeting message in it. Users who have been around for nearly a year would pass up such a thread unless it specifically said "Welcome new and old users" or something similar. It's why I read the topic "Changes to the forums" instead.

It doesn't matter anymore anyways, because I've forgotten which game I wanted to add to the Wanted list. Slave Zero or one of the games Gremlin released right before Infogrames bought them out but after they bought DMA, like Fatal Racing/Whiplash.

I think his sarcasm is warranted. You're not exactly the first person to ask about the wanted list. We've probably seen at least 20 threads of this kind since the relaunch. A quick forum search would have found a good number of the previous ones.
I really don't care what you think. That's not the way to handle it.

The helpful thing to do is to create a whole new sticky thread entitled "This is where the Wanted page is". You know damn well that the average user isn't going to do a search, whether it's the smart thing to do or not. The average user is stupid. And on top of that, search engines aren't always going to give a helpful answer, especially if it's based on the Google engine, which uses one of those stupid "based on the user's web history, this is probably the page he or she is looking for" algorithms.

Being snotty and smartassed isn't going to encourage anyone to do anything except fight back and completely ignore any helpful advice the smartass was trying to impart in the first place. A prime example is the Let's Play Forum, where the admins and mods have a policy of belittling and insulting anyone who asks a question regarding something that may seem simple to an experienced video editor, but not so simple to the user asking the question, hence the reason he or she is asking in the first place. If you act like a jackass to the person asking for help while at the same time slip in the answer to the question in your flame-inducing post, the user isn't going to respond favourably.

And so I reiterate, if multiple users asking the same question pisses you off, try being helpful by posting a sticky thread dedicated entirely to answering that question before it's even been asked. You might even get off with a few reputation points.
I think the gog team is currently working on the wanted list which is currently a complete mess

It just makes sense to actually add a button for that so that people can make their opinions heard

I think that "Welcome, please read" should be changed to "Boobies! Lot's of boobies!!!" Then at least majority would check that one out.

FYI, you can't post a sticky, and there are no mods. Only GOG staff can do that, and yes, their policy regarding stickies is not very good.

Good job, you just called yourself stupid. If you tried searching the forums for "wishlist" or "wanted", you would get your answer pretty much immediately. It would have taken way less time than you've spent creating this thread and now writing this response.

Just saying.

I really wish the gog team would post more on the forums...

Yes, you average users DO seem to be pretty stupid :p

And how about this? Rather than post fifty stickies (one for every question), they just post the one that says: "Welcome, please read".

Because if people aren't going to read one thread, why would they read fifty?
I scanned the whole new GOG page for the list for promoting the "Chameleon" game built with the LS3D engine which powered "Mafia". I read about it some time ago and it sound very interesting, but it seems to have been released in Czechy only, so I couldn't buy it, still.

However, seeing the wish list transformed into an ugly mess of spamming madness, it became obvious why there is no button for it anymore, whatsoever. :(

Hope they fix it soon.
