Up until a few days ago, I've hardly ever played a game that scared me, but I haven't played much of the horror genre games .(Not because I don't like them, but because I am a cheapass and they take forever to drop down to the price I want). I missed out on the Fatal Frame series and never played any Silent Hill games except for the first one. I played the demo of Silent Hill 4 and I thought that was genuinely creepy.
anyhoo, this thread made me jonesing for some good horror games, so I installed my copy of Penumbra Overture that I purchased in the Humble Indie Pack. I played it late at night with all the lights off, and I had a little "herbal enhancement" to help kick in the mood.
I was TERRIFIED . Like I couldn't even play anymore because I was so scared. And nothing even happened in the game really. Just the atmosphere and thinking that something MIGHT happen is what scared me
