I also like play around in Kali (formerly known as BackTrack) as BackTrack was the distro I cut my teeth on before I really delved into Linux. It's not a gaming friendly distro though :)

Thunderstone: Another vote for Mint for general use.

I like Kali as well.
Yes, it's much better than BackTrack 5 where you had to first fight and get basic networking to work as it was turned off by default :D
