Mine would have to be 'This War of Mine'.

I know, it's not quite here yet but I just can't say no to it.
The main attraction for me is permadeath and survival. There aren't a great deal of games that truly encompass the survival concept, even though they claim to do so. Don't Starve was probably the last game I felt that properly incorporated 'survival'.

Runners up: xenonauts, Distant Worlds: Universe, Infested Planet and Door Kickers in no particular order.

So tell me, what's your Game of the Year this year? Something from your favourite genre, or perhaps an outsider that you couldn't take your eyes off?

If you use Steam I would recommend 7 days to die, a survival game with zombies.
Shadowrun : Dragonfall director's cut.

Favourite genre, universe and excellent game all in one :)

If it's zombies and survival, I'd have to one-up you with Project Zomboid :)

A few:

-Metal Gear Rising (Steam version)
-Shovel Knight
-1001 Spikes
-Crimzon Clover: World Ignition

I still need to get through Bayonetta 1 and 2 (enjoying 1 right now and loved the demo of the 2nd game).
