The release of POD Gold made me remember a fairly hyped racing game from the early 2000s, I think. You controlled a very low-profiled, big-wheeled futuristic car that was symmetric - you could flip it over and drive just the same. The races were surrealistic platformers instead of real circuits, and some of them were really, really hard with crazy loops and acrobatic jump sections. You collected powerups too, I believe, or at least there were some locational boosters in the ground. The general color palette was pretty dreamlike too.

Definetly one of the most interesting, different car games ever. It got a sequel too.
Rollcage?
Rollcage sounds about right. Possibly the second one, Rollcage Stage 2.
Rollcage! Nice, thanks. Now let's hope GOG gets it sometime :D I haven't played the sequel in fact, but I always thought it has an awesome NAME. It's an arcade-themed game so "Stage 2" compliments it wonderfully. Nothing never-head-before, but somehow it clicks well in my ear :D
Funny you brought this up. I mentioned it yesterday!
