Jagged Alliance 2

That is a fun game and will have you playing for hours on end.

Also once you make it through the game in its original form on its hardest setting go here JA2 v1.13 Mod HQ and D/L this mod and it turns into a never ending game of possibilities.
Gabriel Knight gets my vote - easily one of the most engrossing and immersive games I've played in years.

I'd go with Gabriel Knight too. Not only are you getting a nice follow-up in the "great games" category but also you'll get a break from combat oriented games :-)

Cheers!

bazilisek: I second Giants: Citizen Kabuto. After Torment, what you need is light-hearted, explosive fun. And Giants is just that.
This, and for the same reasons
All right, so I went and loaded all the ones suggested, and tried each for a few minutes, and I think I'm sticking with Giants: Citizen Kabuto.

Come to think of it, you made the right choice. While I love GK1, if you've just come off of beating Planescape Torment, GK will seem like more of the same.

If you still want a game to unwind to, I'd recommend IWD or Painkiller along with Giants, if only because they provides the wonderful catharsis of "murdering tons of dudes".
