Roberttitus: Personally, I would say cartoony (specifically cel-shaded)... I say this for one major reason. If you look at last generation games, they tend to hold up the best graphically. Games that opted for a realistic style tend to come off as dated, whereas a game like Jet Set Radio (which, believe it or not, was released in 2000) still looks better than some games that are released today. That being said, in the modern market I am really indifferent. As long as the graphics suite the gameplay then I am fine with either... however.... it does get boring playing in shades of brown & grey after awhile.
Hm, the aging is a good point. Grim Fandango, for example, came out in 1998, but since it's stylized and the characters are supposed to look blocky anyway it doesn't look too dated.
