FlintlockJazz: I am sad enough to own the books, hell I was sad enough to do the live action Vampire for quite a while, before I got into proper contact larp (otherwise known as whacking each other with latex swords, a true manly pastime).
Gathering or Renewal?

I preferred the revamped (ahem...) Vampire, the rules made more sense and were easier to adapt, plus the power creep was reigned in a bit, and someone had a vague go at balancing the races... However, I haven't played a proper RPG in years, and haven't even smacked an elf on the ears with a latex axe in a few...

KavazovAngel: Somewhat related... Can I buy a DD version of VtM:B from somewhere (not counting Steam)?

reaver894: Bought my copy @ D2D i think

Edit: yep just checked it, £7.50 at D2D
Thanks. But its 19.99 euro for me. :( I'll see if I can find it cheaper at a local retailer.

It sucks indeed.

reaver894: So just pen and paper games not ones that are playable ala masqerade?
Currently I believe it's just pen and paper, but they will probably release a game based on the new system at some point, and there is the World of Darkness MMO being developed at the mo, which may use the new setting.

Aliasalpha: Latex? Where's the fun in that? If you can have someones eye out its not proper entertainment
Yeah but I get to dress up as a pirate and go yarr at people, so all's good. :D

Aliasalpha: The thing is that humans had a hell of an advantage if they had guns and if the players had a storyteller who found the one hidden rule that actually make guns useful
I don't ever recall coming across that hidden rule, bugger. Humans do get a more equal footing in general though than they did before I reckon. Plus, oWoD had the Kindred of the East, superpowered ninja that could shoot lightning from their testicles while flying backwards as one mate put it.

Aliasalpha: Masqerade is men & paper, bloodlines & redemption were based on it
Yep, Bloodlines was the better of the two imho and closer to the spirit of the game.

Maelstrom. Pirates and gnolls and clockwork limbs and New World colonising.

That's how I view the new rules too, they've pretty much set up each race with 5 of everything and cut down on the truly gooby stuff.

You need an EXCUSE for that??

If memory serves, the rule said that each success on the attack roll added a die to the damage roll so someone doing a full auto burst with an MP5 could very rapidly turn a vampire into a fine mist even if he didn't have mist form...

I thought I did, but apparently not as I have been wearing my naval greatcoat to work lately...

Ah, I do recall that rule though don't remember it being that bad, then again maybe everyone I played with were just bad rollers. :D If I remember right Mist Form was level 5 Protean, so I'd rule that unfairly lowers the value if other vamps are able to do it for free with machinegun fire. :P
I view Vampire: The Requiem in the same sense that I view Deus Ex: Invisible War - It's essentially the same thing, but the world I was familiar with changed drastically, and many things I liked were removed. That's not to say it is horrible, but it is very, very different. Honestly, I prefer the Masquerade time line more, and I heard a rumor that the upcoming MMO will be based off of it rather than Requiem, which would be nice, but I have my doubts as to the validity of such claims.
