I was on here yesterday or the day before and I could have sworn I saw the Amex icon for credit cards being accepted in addition to Visa and Mastercard. Was I seeing things or did something go awry with taking Amex. I was pretty pleased to see that actually.

To my knowledge, Amex has never been accepted here, just Visa, Mastercard and PayPal.

Well, that one day I saw it was the only day I ever saw it so I would agree with you if I hadn't seen what I thought I saw that one day....

I'm certainly sounding crazy enough so maybe I was just hallucinating....

Ah, I see. Ok so Amex is being accepted or isn't it? It's specifically not included in the 'we accept...' statement on the front page.

If they accept Amex they're certainly not going to publicise the fact.

Well, the clue is in the name, unfortunately. Let's just say that it's not the darling of non-US businesses.

It's not something I've personally investigated, but I've heard enough complaints about it to know there are problems.

Generally it's hard for some businesses to determine whether it's cost effective to provide that as a payment method or not. Given that the alternative might be no sale at all... well, you get the picture.

Just a suggestion... you can setup a PayPal account to use AmEx. So you could pay for your GOG games with PayPal, which will bill your AmEx.

Maybe it's your card. Tell you what, just give me your card info and I'll create a small charge of, say, $8,000 to my merchant account. You know, just to see if your card is okay. ; )

Amex has horribly high fees for merchants and even more punitive contracts than Visa and Mastercard. That's why no one takes them (except places like Costco than can muscle a good deal out of them).
