I always enjoy seeing what others game at. Especially pics. I like to see the hardware as well as the layout/setup.

So what peripherals do you use? Cable management? Beer hat? Lighting? Access to snacks, TV, stereo, etc? Maybe you are doing something no one else has thought of... perhaps we all will get a laugh at what you ARE doing :p (anyone with surround sound speakers dangling off the back of your chair?)

For me, I'm simply sitting at two flat tables in an L shape (I keep waiting for a new home before I get serious about a nice desk and setup)... its been 3 years :(

This was my favorite desk and most comfortable to sit at (lost it in a move) http://www.ifurn.com/pics/8/bestar-furniture/elite-tuscany-corner-computer-desk.68430-63.1.300.jpg (will likely be looking for something like this again).

Since I'm using flat tables, everything just sits on top. Wireless head set and mouse. Wired keyboard. Logitech G930 for the sound, G19 for the keyboard and Naga for the mouse. nothing else really fancy other than I need a proper desk :(
I'm on a Summer break from an overseas volunteer job, so I have a temporary setup at my mom's house on a craft table of all things.

I have a custom built PC using a large black Antec case, a 28" Samsung 16:10 monitor, a Logitech G500 gaming mouse and a piece of shit Logitech keyboard because it's a keyboard and no one cares.

I also always use headphones, right now a decent Microsoft pair 'cause my Razer's broke.
My desktop is on a desk (*GASP*)... pretty simple. On one side I have a shelf where I put... stuff. On the other a MIDI keyboard. I also have really big speakers due to being a music nerd. I also do a lot of gaming on my laptop, sitting on my bed.
Cannot get a decent quality photo going, but here's my "station:"

<raises hand> Me, too!

I game on a Dell 17" XPS laptop from last year, with the aforementioned mouse. Sometimes I'll use my Sennheiser HD590 headphones, but usually not.

Right now I'm on a small desk at the hotel room so it's just the generic stuff that comes at a typical hotel. At home, I have a custom-built desk, roughly 36" x 72". Kind of a cool piece: I used 1" galvanized pipe to make the frame, and then used stained oak for the top and shelves - the desktop as actually a solid-core door, and I had the edges trimmed out. The office itself is something like 12' x 11', with a closet I want to get rid of (somebody did a crappy remodel several years back). We're going to do away with the stand-alone shelf units in the room and make some built-ins that go on the wall behind the desk.
I am very happily gaming on a beautiful brand new desk in a nice cherry finish with matching chair. I just got it last month to replace and old particle board number I'd been using for two decades and boy did it look it too. My brother laughed at me for even taking it with me when I moved here a year ago. Yeah, it was that bad. The matching chair was an old metal office chair with casters and a sort of heavy vinyl on it that had long cracks in it which pinched my ass at times when I sat down. I was very happy to haul these pieces of work off to the dump!

Perched on this desk is my 27" iMac. I also have a pair of Bose Companion 20 speakers for great sound. At night I use Bose AE2 headphones usually. I like the Apple Magic mouse which supports gestures for everyday use but when gaming I switch it off and go with my Logitech Performance MX mouse which is much better suited to gaming.

That's my new gaming setup and I am loving it. :-)
Mine is in the pic. Rig on the left is the 'newer' one (Win7 Pro, i7 920, GTX 560ti). Rig on the right is the old one (Win XP, E6750, GTX 275). The left monitor is a 24 inch Philips Brilliance 240PW HIPS panel (1920x1200) and the right monitor is an LG Flatron W2242T (1680x1050) TN panel. Pic is from a while back. I've since cleared up the nest of wires under the desk.

The case on the right is one of my older cases as well ;)

I'm also happy to see someone that manages cables like I do :p I always set out to do a better job... but then I realize I'd rather be gaming ;)

One thought I keep having over and over again is a centralized setup. Given how LOUD gaming rigs are, I'm starting to loathe having it at my desk. Aside from the cabling, I'm wondering how much I'd enjoy a KVM setup at my desk where the PC is in another room? Has anyone tried this in a home environment? Its been a while since I've checked, but I know they have some KVM over cat5 solutions... (would save a tone of space and cables at the desk plus would be very quiet)...
I use my computer desk as a form of storage device for misc items, like books, tea, wargaming models, flashlights, clocks, important documents and so on (some of those should not actually be in plural). I also have a table right next to it with some more stuff on it.
You are not getting a photo of my mess ;)
I have a basic Acer laptop, with Sandy Bridge integrated graphics and a 14" screen. You really don't need much more for most old games and 2D indie games, which are pretty much all I play anymore (even Starcraft II runs fairly well). I also use a Logitech wireless mouse, an M215. Sometimes I will output video to my room TV using the laptop's HDMI out, but this is usually only for games I play with a gamepad (an XBox 360 wired controller). I don't have any special knick-knacks or doodads on my desk.

HD515 here! Though I don't use them much. Only when I'm either playing Counterstrike or playing co-op with someone while using voice communication. I like my games loud and my mic is a POS.

It really just boils down to the specific component in my opinion.
My Radeon 4870 sounded like a wind power station. I then switched to a GTX 285 (BFG) and from there to GTX 580 and the latter two hardly make any sound. My gaming desktop is probably quieter than your average PC.

Its multiple things. I've had a GTX 295 and 590 and the systems are not only extremely loud, they are room heating... but its not JUST the video cards... processors, even RAM and power supplies can add to the heat... which generates more noise in cooling. My system is extremely quiet... until I start playing certain games. If I'm playing Tex Murphy 1, I barely know its on. If I'm playing Rift at max settings, I keep ducking from the sound of the commercial airliner that keeps flying over my room.

Yay. My crappy lappie with some nice Bose desktop speakers, Razer Deathaadder, Boston alarm/clock/radio thing, various decorations, plus my trusty coaster. It's always good to have a hot cup of tea or refreshing juice nearby - I never spill stuff. ;)

I play on a custom rig that I frequently update, so there`s no use in listing my current specs.

What I constantly use are mechanical keyboards. For work I use one with Cherry MX blue switches, since this are the best for typing, and for gaming I use a keyboard with Cherry MX black switches. I have a backup keyboard with Cherry MX brown switches, which is sort of a middle ground between the other two.
