I started playing games again in 2011. I was single at the time and looking to revisit my carefree youthful days. I was also looking to take advantage of the joys of digital distribution.
I joined steam and bought x-com. I hated steam immediately (not having a wonderful internet connection, not liking windows - being a dos gamer, not liking the launcher, etc).
TotalBiscuit then mentioned gog at some point in one of his videos/podcasts and I looked it up. It had everything I wanted so a joined up.
My pc laptop then died 3 times in a row, I bought a mac, and, given the majority of my games were dos based, it fitted perfectly with gog.
