Pharaoh+Cleopatra, Zeus+Poseidon, Total Annihilation series and other strategy titles 50% off

After adding 6 new titles to our catalogue this week GOG.com is ready for a weekend of war. Strategy Sweep Weekend calls you to arms with a 50% discount to propel the war effort. From the pyramids of Luxor to the top of the Olympus, from the fantastic realms of magic to the mundane fields of the stock market, from the barbaric past to the technologically advanced future--with your help we are going to dominate all the battlefields.

Before you go to war with total domination of the world on your mind, better make sure that you have an empire at your command. In Pharaoh + Cleopatra you lead the Children of the Nile, building and managing cities, defying the harsh Egyptian conditions, pacting with gods, and building the foundations of your dynasty. Will it be able to produce a Pharaoh, the Son of Sun? That would surely be an occasion to celebrate with building of some pyramids. Or even a Sphinx if your people go crazy. Not really a fan of sand and crocodiles? Not a problem! Zeus+Poseidon deliver the same great city-building and realm-defending experience in the setting of ancient Europe with a hint of Greek heroic myths.

And for the commanders who prefer the haste of the battlefield action over the patient building and managing we have Total Annihilation: Commander Pack, which includes the original game and both expansions: The Core Contingency and Battle Tactics. In this definitive futuristic RTS title the topography of the war theatre has a large impact on the tactics, so remember to secure the high ground. Once you conquer the future you might be tempted to change the setting to something more medieval and fantastic. Totall Annihilation: Kingdoms and its Iron Plague expansion bring the action into the land of dragons, warlocks, and undead hordes.

All these and other great strategy titles are now available 50% off on GOG.com, so muster your troops, clean your guns and be ready to march out for your mission briefing on the promo page.

Arteveld: F..ing war bears, seriously? My friends have a new hobby now: taking deliberate pleasure in watching me fail in MoM time after time after time.
Awesome promo, awesome games! Thanks GOG!:*
I too have had the pleasure of having my ass handed to me time and time again since I started playing MoM(since this afternoon), but for some reason I can't stop. -__-
Alright Licurg, you win, I bought MoM. (Only 18 MB! Another reason to love old games. :)) Only played it briefly so far, but seems good. Close enough to Civ to feel familiar and carry over the goodness of that series, but also different enough to have a distinct personality.
So I caved and bought Warlords Battlecry 3, too. Good God, I don't think I've bought this many games from GOG in one weekend in a while.

I do have a question though - are there any decent strategy guides out there for WBC3? This game is seriously kicking my ass.

Licurg: Don't recall ever playing it... So if I did, I probably didn't like it very much :)

JMich: Part of SSI's "5 Star General" series, of which we only have 2 on GOG.com and I doubt we'll see the rest :(
Still, they are available in the dark corners of the net if you want them, and I do believe it blows Battle for Wesnoth out of the sky, even though BoW is open source and all. Personal opinion though, feel free to disagree.
Fantasy General was a bear. I still have the CD in my collection, but never got very far in the game...

MoM hates everyone's face and delights in ripping it to shreds. I was never very good at it, but my brother has probably sunk a few hundred hours into the game.

Champion halfling slingers with adamantium weapons, lionheart and eldritch weapon laugh at the face of anything, one shotting great drakes and 3 (or 4) shotting missile immune creatures. Not that easy to get them though, but really broken should you manage to do that. Oh, did I mention they need 40 points of damage to die?

I don't think I ever managed to get them, no. I tended to die early and often.
