Resonance, The Whispered World, Blackwell Bundle, Machinarium, and other Adventures 50% off.

Do you want to hear the story of the origins of our Point-and-Click Mix Promo, that offers you 6 great indie adventure games with a 50% discount? Well, here it is. In the beginning there were just the keyboards. But then the God of PC Gaming said: "Let there be a device on your desks that you could use to move a little cursor on the screen". And there was such a device. And the God of PC Gaming saw that it was good, and he said: "Let this device be known as MOUSE, because its cord looks like a little tail and it just cracks me up". And the device was called a "mouse" and so it shall be until the end of times. And the God of PC Gaming said: "Whoah! Looks like I'm in the zone and every idea I have today turns out to be brilliant. Say... wouldn't it be fun to use this mouse to point-and-click your way through adventure games?". And all of the Creation stopped in awe for a moment or two, such was the greatness of this idea. And the God of PC Gaming saw that Point-and-Click Adventures were good. No, not just good: simply awesomesauce! And here, at GOG.com, we sure as hell share this opinion. But enough about genesis, let's cut to the chase. Here's what we've been blessed with in the Point-and-Click Mix Promo!

If you're a fan of pixel-art aesthetics and classic adventure narrative, you simply cannot afford to miss , Gemini Rue, and Blackwell Bundle! Uncover a catastrophic conspiration and solve the riddle behind the secret vault of a genius particle physicist. Then take a trip across the gritty neo-noir galaxy in the sci-fi story of shady businesses, villainy, and redemption. Finally, follow the writer/medium/detective Rosangela Blackwell and her pulse-impaired companion Joe Mallone on four of their mystery-packed cases set in 1970's New York.

If you prefer games that feel so modern and surreal that they can be used as an argument in the everlasting "games as art" debate, be sure to check out Amanita Design's and Machinarium: Collector's Edition. Both games feature unique worlds that will amaze you with their dream-like landscapes. Guide a little robot through the metal-covered, puzzle-packed city of aberrant automatons or help a group of little tree-sprites to save the last seed of their home-tree from an insect invasion. Whichever world you choose to visit first, it's sure to leave you astonished!

Or maybe you're looking for an adventure that feels like an amazing animated fairy-tale? Look no further! The Whispered World is exactly that: high-quality 2D adventure game with hand-painted backgrounds and traditional hand-drawn frame-by-frame animation. Can you get to the bottom of a mysterious prophecy, and assist Sadwick and his companion Spot on a dangerous adventure that leads them to the furthest ends of the Whispered World?

Grab your mouse and head out to the Point-and-Click Mix Promo page, to check out the God's of PC Gaming gifts to humanity--now 50% off on GOG.com.
Aww. Only new games sale again =/

Hopefully next weekend sale will bring some old stuff not sold elsewhere ^^

(Already owning 4/6 them trough my primary provider of new releases anyway and mixing would be just confusing.)

Imago: I wish The Book of Unwritten Tales was in this promo too...
Me too! At least I can pick up Resonance and the Blackwell Bundle. : )
Very good games all. My favorite Machinarium.
Bought everything except the Whispered World. The reviews on TWW made the puzzles sound too annoying.

The Whispered World is great and imo the puzzles aren't bad, it plays more like older lucasarts styles games, like out of dark-humor and wacky puzzles.

The art style, humor, everything felt like the older monkey island/day of the tentacle style adventure game but better animations/art from today's technology.

Try out the demo before you decide not to buy it, great price and well worth it imo, and I bought it when it was 30 bucks at release on steam.

Hmm... you tempt me sir, as I really enjoyed the early Monkey Island games. Guess I still have 21 hours to decide.

Resonance was an instabuy as soon as it showed up here. Can't tell the same about the Blackwell series though. I'm a big fan of the AGS adventures but there are plenty of better games, and for free. Well, at least it is on sale :)

Plenty of free AGS games better than the Blackwell saga? I believe you owe us all a list, sir!

It's on the Award Winners page of the official AGS website ;)

Don't get me wrong, the games from the Blackwell series have a great story, and their production values are quite high as expected from the commercial project (you may check the very early version of Legacy called Bestowers of Eternity to compare). But in general I can't see why, let's say, Ben Jordan series is worse. Or, for example, Ben_304's games, which have much better pixel art and very touching stories. Not to mention solid adventures like A Tale of Two Kingdoms, Mind's Eye, The Journey Down: Over the Edge (which was also remade commercially), or even Reactor 09. And I could continue the list, but I wasn't going to insult anybody or make these comparisons, the more good point'n'click adventures — the better, isn't it?

Well, there's a difference between saying other AGS games are better than the commercial ones and saying other AGS games aren't any worse. I would look at it from a different angle: Isn't it astonishing that all these high quality AGS games that some people put countless hours of work into are completely free and didn't cost you anything? And does that make paying for e.g. the Blackwell series wrong, just because you didn't pay the authors of those other works?

It was a bold (and certainly controversial) move of Dave Gilbert to try and make a living by selling AGS games - at the time when he started I probably thought something along the lines of "You want me to pay for this now? No, thanks, you greedy bastard!", not realizing that the greedy bastard was in fact me, myself and I. ;)

In the meantime I've bought all of his games, most for the full price, before they turned up in indie bundles, and I never regret that. I still enjoy all the free AGS games, but I also wouldn't mind paying for them anymore, if the prices are reasonable and I think those of WadjetEye Games are. But of course, YMMV.

The ironic thing is that Ben_304 actually did the pixel art for Blackwell Deception's characters, if I'm not mistaken, and the creator of the Ben Jordan series did several voiceovers for WadjetEye's games, including the Blackwell series. I'm sure they have been compensated for it. ;)

(And you can pay for one of Ben_304's games here.)

Sure, that's right, since it didn't stop me from buying Gemini Rue and Resonance (I wouldn't hesitate to pay the full price for it, though got it during the pre-order), I just don't think that the Blackwell Bundle costs its money, it's a different league. And forums are for the opinions, aren't they?

So do I, and most probably will buy the upcoming Primordia.

Yes, I know that, and nothing ironic here, since they are all active members of the AGS community. Nevertheless their games are different, and you should know what I mean if you played them. Anyway, kalirion asked for the list, I made it, after all everyone can decide for themselves.

Imago: And forums are for the opinions, aren't they?
Sure, I didn't mean to discredit yours, just offering mine. :)

And if it means more people will discover and appreciate the work of Ben_304 and Grundislav, all the better!

And the more ironic thing is that many people, myself included, hated his version of Rosangela, and at least disliked his version of Joey.

Unfortunately I think Dave will stick with them for the next installment ... Personally I don't hate them but I liked that they changed with each episode.
