Get Sid Meier's Colonization, Capitalism series, Pirates! Gold Plus, and more classics from Retroism and Enlight 60% off!

This weekend we want you to disregard the fact that days are getting shorter and that, with every passing day, it's getting chillier outside. It's time to celebrate the Gaming Oktoberfest!

The weekend promo lineup includes classics aplenty spanning multiple genres. Ever wanted to take over the world? Capitalism Plus and Capitalism 2 are a set of deep strategy titles where you create and expand the business empire of your dreams. Those interested in a more sword-oriented approach to domination simply must check out Sword of the Samurai, an unforgettable action/strategy gem set in feudal Japan during the Age of Warring States. With a mixture of real-time battles, furious melee action, and grand-scale planning this 80s cult-classic remains one of the all-time greats. Fans of the creator extraordinaire Sid Meier simply have to revisit his early gems: Silent Service, a World War II submarine sim with an appealing "find 'em, chase 'em, sink 'em" vibe, as well as the supreme special agent simulator Covert Action in which you have the entire repertoire of espionage tricks and techniques at your fingertips in an attempt to neutralize terrorist threats and criminal plots.

There is plenty more awesome games 60% off in this weekend's promo lineup, so make sure to drop by the promo page for the full list. You have time until Tuesday, October 21, at 3:59AM GMT. Don't miss out!
Hmm, some of these games just appeared on Steam, including Dragonsphere which while it's free here, costs money and requires Steam drm there.

I know, right? Some people like the "Steam DRM" but paying for something free here. (Sure hope it's kept free here, but who knows when the contract runs out...)

Combiner: How is Darklands? Looks quite interesting.
Dated but enjoyable. It has a few unique features (especially if you consider its release date - 1992). Just to mention a few:
- When you create your characters you actually create their CVs. You choose their former professions and only then you'll get points to distribute on various skills. The older a character is the more he/she knows/can do. But obviously he/she won't be a good warrior and will have to rest a lot.
- It's not ye-old-generic-fantasy-world. Sure, there are some fantasy elements (limited) but you will be travelling across medieval Germany with recreated historical atmosphere (conspiracies, many fractions trying to get as much power as they can etc.)
- When your characters get too old you can replace them with younger gals and guys which is very nice because:
- It's actually a sandbox game even though this term was not used for video games in early 90s. The world is big and you can go wherever you want and do whatever you want. There is no "main quest plotline". There is an event that can be considered as an ultimate goal of the game but you are not forced to do anything. You can fool around, accept some missions from NPCs and stuff like that. You are free!

There are of course some some disadvantages:
- The biggest is that it takes some time to get used to the game. Battles are a bit confusing at first and visiting cities can be tedious (you have to browse through branching text options and getting what you want takes a lot time)
- There is a limited number of missions that you can do so it will get repetitive relatively fast

I can still wholeheartedly recommend the game. It's definitely very unique, especially for +20 years old game!
Woo!

Almost got Sword of the Samurai or Covert Action.....

...but F117 is finally on sale! Woo!

Being to young to play any of Microproses' classic flight sims Ive been anticipating a sale for a hot minute.
The manual is fantastic....and you can fly with a keyboard! Im both confused and aroused. My joystick is nice and all, but it takes up most of my desk space! :/

Also...this darned game has a sensible keyboard layout AND eleventy billion campaigns? Why has this game not been remade? No matter, thanks for the sale gog! I have some sneaky flying to do!

Does that game run well with an Xbox 360 controller?
Actually Im one of the few who doesnt own a controller so I cant help. :(

The flight physics are somewhat arcadey. Not like a true jet sim. You turn very slowly no matter what, so Im using the keyboard myself. Then again the game gives missions based on what plane you are flying. I fly the real plane, which is a ground attack craft. Thus dogfighting isn't an issue. Microproses' fictional F117 does dogfight, so hmm..

Anyhow. I have no idea. I own a flight joystick by thrustmaster, and I just tested this for ya. Detects it and it works flawlessly.

Do be aware you can't remap keys... so... Your controller will only use button 1 and button 2. Which I have no idea what that would be on a Xbox controller.

Restaurant Empire? Really? Is this game like scary bad or something? ^^
My wallet is safe over the weekend, at least regarding games...
Kinda lame sale... where's our Insomnia sales... :(
The only games of interest I have already, luckily bought in the 'good old times'... So there's nothing offered to resist this weekend. Fine.
Good promo, lovely games!
I gave in and purchased Deadlock 2 and Darklands. It won't be until next summer I have time to try either of them but that's okay. I'm really looking forward to delve into Darklands, looks like a solid RPG.
Great promo .
and before i bought the baldurs 1 and 2 (promo)

Bought:
SEVEN KINGDOMS 2 € 4.79 € 1.89
SEVEN KINGDOMS: ANCIENT ADVERSARIES € 4.79 € 1.89

The game i was curious about...

Well these games take quite some time to get the hang of it, the other rps/strategy games i own play: faster, better and the learning curve is easy, this game is different, and before you can pump up an army you have to take too much steps compared to AOE and the likes :D
So i finally got to see and play the famous 7 kingdoms which i was so curious about :D , but its not my cup of tea

and a none promo pack:

TOTAL ANNIHILATION: COMMANDER PACK
TOTAL ANNIHILATION: KINGDOMS + IRON PLAGUE

BUY SERIES €9.58 €7.98
You save €1.60 (17%)

Good old TA Kingdoms ( i played it but, wow that was long time ago, back then i was amazed by it,
but compared to what i have played after TAKingdoms,
TAk just cant compare/compete the graphics dont look so cool anymore, cause we have been spoiled with todays graphics.

So in the old days it was the bomb, now its just some nostalgic game.

So sometimes some old games seem to have lost their magic touch, at least to me...
jagged alliance and the like however are still my favorites and always will be
also the c&c redalert (before they went 3d)
