Hej,

I am looking for a webcam (and I'd guess I'd need a semi-decent microphone too) that'd work for a quite specific situation:

Recently one of the people of my local writing group has moved down South. We met weekly (even after our MA in Writing) to workshop things. Given that I do have a projector we kinda came up with the idea to stream her in, so she could continue participating.

We'd need a cam that is capable of giving a clear enough image of a room full of people, though - and, I'd guess - a decent enough microphone to go with it, that can pick up even several people speaking at the same time, occasionally - not everyone necessarily equal distance from it. And of course ... it all has to be cheap!

I've no clue about webcams. Any thoughts on what models are out there that are afford-ably priced and good quality? Thank you!

hd webcam there, one of the cheaper ones i can find
If you're a reader/writer group chances are this might not be a problem - but for the webcam make sure you've got enough light for the thing to work with to give a decent picture - 90% of dingy webcam streams could be improved by geeks upgrading to the 60W lightbulb from the 40W ;)
If you have a Playstation 3 and you have the Eye toy for it then you can download some really simple drivers and use the eye toy as a webcam and mic. Hope you have one, cause mine works wonderful!

Thank you! I've got enough light in the room, I think - there's four spotlights on different walls that I can turn on / off as needed :). No playstation here.
