Next time utilitarian proponents blast video games, shove that down their throats :).

No one else. We cracked an Aids-like enzyme in three weeks!

I'd make a WoW joke, but this is great news...unlike WoW....
That's fantastic. But does the author actually thinks AIDS is a virus?
I knew all that time spent manshooting was in the interests of science.

All I saw was a mention of an AIDS-like virus. So who knows?

He's positive.

You could say he's...

*sunglasses*

HIV-positive

YEAAAAAAHHHHHH
I think the point that Darling_Jimmy is trying to make is that AIDS is the disease, HIV is the virus - so an "AIDS-like" virus in this instance doesn't make sense from an ... exact perspective.

But that's cool. In my lab, we've considered doing something similar for DNA sequence alignment.

Oh I know what Darling_Jimmy meant, I was merely making the obligatory joke.

As regards the actual meat of this story, any breakthrough in fighting a disease is great in my opinion. And it's good to see a positive gamer story for once.

Well, to be fair to the article author, there are viruses like FIV that cause AIDS-like diseases in their hosts. But yeah, I generally do agree with you.

Aye I wasn't entirely sure, but I responded just in case :)

Agreed it is nice to see a positive gamer story.

I'll admit, it's a touch on the pedantic side since the author's meaning is clear. But we should still expect certain standards to be met from journalists on online articles, even, or perhaps especially, the pedantic ones. :P
