btw, here is the relevant part of the e-mail that wasn't quoted above:

"We need to ensure that our players are experiencing the most up to date code, so we will be utilizing the automatic updating system that Steam provides for physical copies."
Success breeds success, unfortunately. By virtue of being the biggest games distribution network out there, everyone and their cousin automatically go to Steam. Their DRM is for the most part is covert, so the average gamer doesn't perceive it. (Which is why you get the "uneducated" claiming Steam isn't DRM.)
Games publishers know they make more money on Steam for their new games because they have the biggest market share, etc.

GOG may be the DRM-free choice for people in the know, but Galaxy will have to have a few tricks up its sleeve to start challenging Steam. :(
