Coelocanth: He's not talking about Early Access. He's talking about beta testing. But the way the Wasteland 2 devs decided to do it is they give you a Steam key (beta testing is only on Steam and only available to backers), much like Pillars of Eternity. Unlike PoE though, if you opt in to try the beta on Steam, your final copy of the game is locked into Steam as well. No option to go with GOG if you beta test.

hedwards: Precisely. From what I understand that's not a Steam requirement, Steam can have keys that are alpha/beta only, it's that they chose to make the keys automatically upgrade to full keys.

I'm annoyed greatly that they haven't explained or even acknowledged that fact.
hm yeah, come to think of it, would expect Brian old boy to know about alternative gaming culture :)
Would think that he is aware that Fallouts have been selling here quite well (until they were lost from the catalogue)
So why would he not care about goggers? Briansy what's happenin' ?
The release date is so close :3. If it will be as soon as Broken Age, I will be a satisfied backer.
I second that suggestion about a gog release for Wasteland 2. Anyone hear anything from the devs one way or the other? I try to stay optimistic about gog new releases, but still have to be cautious. A steam release these days is a foregone conclusion. A gog release, not so much.

It's been announced long ago that it's coming to GOG. Stay on this thread here:

I'm only updating that main thread. :)

As cw8 said, it's coming to GOG. This is the reason I've not tried the Steam beta, since I want the final release on GOG and not Steam.

Presumably it's an oversight, but still, it's not like people haven't been griping on the updates page and in their forum about it. Burying your head in the sand rarely, if ever, works out well.
