WBGhiro: hasn't this happened before both with gamersgate and steam? running out of keys seems to be a fairly common mistake lately.
Steam has run out of keys a few times, GamersGate probably a few more than Steam... But GMG? It seems to affect every single title. And some, far worse than others. I believe that some people who pre-ordered Hard Reset prior to its release are STILL waiting for their keys from GMG.

That's just piss poor.

Ubivis: snipedy - snip
Generally, under german(and to a certain degree european) consumer law, you could buy the game on the second cheapest digital download site and get the difference as contractual damages from them. As it was cleary part of your deal to get the game "on day one" and not later.

Of course, going through all the hassle to get those 20 quid is a whole different story. There are naturally quite a lot of hoopes to jump through considering it's a cross border deal and everything.

But, as with many consumer rights, if a lot of people would pursue it, the distributors might actually care ...

hedwards: Ultimately, the publisher is responsible for providing sufficient keys as without keys there are no sales, and they really ought to be providing them for the launch day anyways.

Delixe: Of course it comes down to the publishers but they have proved time and again they are unreliable, stores like GMG have to account for this. Really they should have just stopped taking orders until the knew when they would be re-stocked. Basically no matter who's fault it was ultimately it leaves the customer out of pocket and pissing into the wind.

I'm quite astonished that publishers continue to ramp up DRM and pre-order bonuses and online passes but they have consistanly failed to manage them properly. It's not even limited to the PC anymore, this restriction bullshit is now firmly established on consoles now as well. Driver: SF shipping on the Xbox360 without the multi-player codes should have been a major scandal but no... few months later and most gaming media forgot it and look forward to the next online pass required game.
The only solution to that is no preorders, otherwise there's all sorts of logistical problems that come from it.

"Just waiting on the contract, our product page is ready to go as soon as we have it! /Rob"

No one pre-ordered Hard Reset from GMG. It wasn't available. People are asking for keys so that GMG can put it on sale, and people can use coupons to get a discount on it most likely and also use trade-in credit.

Well that's not how it read to me. But even if that is the case, it still highlights an all to obvious point: GMG are fucking useless at getting game keys.
I wouldn't say that case highlights it as no one (as far as I know) other than Steam has that game for sale.
