Is it possible to get the Chaos Gate game here on GOG? its an older strategy game that I loved playing and would love to play again, the only problem that i hear is that it is not compatable with windows xp which i happen to have. If you guys at GOG could remedy this I would be happy to pay $5 to get it, eventhough i still have the original game cd and manual. please let me know :D

It's unlikely because of the license issues. THQ is the current license holder for Warhammer 40K (Warhammer and Blood Bowl are seperate IP's) and they are not on GOG. To make matters worse SSI who originally made Chaos Gate are no more and their IP's now belong to Ubisoft. I would imagine it would be a nightmare to work that one out.

Hmmm that does sound like a problem even for a game as old as this.. oh well I wouldnt have known if I hadnt asked. Hopefully this may change but thanks for the reply.

Joe, in this case I really wouldn't have any issues with getting it from an abandonware site and playing it on DOSbox, since either way any money you could pay here for it (and you can't) most likely wouldn't go to who created the game anyway, but to people who later earned the rights or licenses, which, as Delixe said, will probably not be easy for GOG to deal, and they might not be interested in going through such hell just for a game that isn't deemed iconic as some others in similar situations (System Shock series) are.

Dang, I came to this forum specifically to request Chaos Gate. Hopefully they pursue obtaining this game and get all the legal stuff sorted out. It would be a shame to deprive us of such a great game simply because of licensing issues.

I managed to get the game running well on windows 7. Not sure if it will run on win xp but I'd be willing to go through what I did to get it running on 7 with you if you want to take a crack at getting your cd version running.

I'll be able to have a look at what I did when I get home tonight in about 12 hours.

I cannot really remember when I switched from Win98 to XP but I'm almost certain that I was playing Chaos Gate on XP already. Again - I can confirm it around 22:00 CET.

Hmm.. Memoria fragilis est. It seems I played it under Win98. On XP 32bit game returns to Desktop in first mission after I click End Turn button. I tried some standard tricks + googled a bit but no success... Sorry.

Working on getting this going well in Windows 8.

Ran it last night in XP Compatibility mode SP3, a bit rough with the mouse cursor movement, and today can't seem to get the 1.2 patch to install.

I remember having many gaming and flash issues with XP at first but I used the Microsoft Virtual Machine (was not included with XP) instead of java and it fixed most issues. Aside from this I might also ask what screen resolution u r trying to run the game in? Try running it in 640x480 screen resolution and see if it will load.

Found both patch 1.1 and 1.2 on reocities. Can't post a link to it, but google reocities chaos gate and it'll be the top result.

Unfortunately unable to install either of them on Windows 8.

Anyone have any luck installing the patches lately that can walk me through this? I get an error message saying "File not found. Another file with the same name found. Unable to patch due to content of file not matching."
