I would have posted this in the Duke Nukem boards, but I could also have easily posted it in the Blood boards, both being Build games.
Anyway, since GoG has every (popular) Build game and SW (there are a lot of others, like NAM and TekWar and the cancelled Corridor 8, but I reiterate, only the popular ones are here), I was going to buy it directly from 3DRealms.com. And since the expansion packs Twin Dragon (actually released for free at launch) and Wanton Destruction are both now freeware, now seems as good a time as any to get it. I actually had the CD-ROM version, but that disc is long lost to whatever dimension swallowed it up. I suspect the portal to that dimension is located in the same apartment where I last saw my Dreamcast.
The problem with the games sold directly from 3DRealms is that they're sold "as-is", meaning no handy-dandy wrappers like the kind GoG provides, and I'm not too handy, or patient, at setting up DOSBox settings for DOS games written in the Win95 era. And so I need to find a Windows 7 compatible source port. I'm aware of JonoF's port, but it hasn't been updated since October 2005, and I'm not sure if that's due to the fact that everything that can be done has been done, or if JonoF hasn't had any time to work on it in five years. I suspect the latter since "It is work in progress" is displayed in bold text at the top of the page.
I'm not looking for improved graphics or flashy lighting (though the ability to play at my native resolution of 1680x1050 is always nice), I'm just looking for a way to make the game functional on my OS.
