I've always been curious about the Blackwell point and click adventures by Dave Gilbert. Did anyone here play them? What did you think? Are they worth the asking price?

A DVD with episodes 1-4 is on sale until October 16th for $25, which seems like a good offer, given that each episode usually costs about $15 on its own. I just wish the offer would last one week longer, as I don't see a way to transfer enough money to my PayPal account in this short time ... :_(

Thanks for bringing the offer to my attention! I too am interested in the answer to your question.

I just started replaying it and used the search function to see if there were topics about it.

I realise it's too late, but they're good games. They're very classic in look but the puzzles are more unique - I don't want to spoil too much, but this game is less about object hunting and more about investigating. I do like that a lot. I turn voice action off, though. Some like it, I think it's too hit & miss and the way the sound has been recorded is pretty bad, which makes it even less enjoyable to listen to. It gets better in later sequels though.

The graphics are pretty low-rez but I enjoy that - your imagination still is given some room after all. Generally, it's a great deal.

I decided to go for it and also managed to pre-order the DVD in time, so it's not a big deal; looking forward to playing them. I'm perfectly fine with the graphics, as I love pixel art and I'm used to playing AGS games. If I'm not mistaken, I think Dave Gilbert got himself some help from Ben304 and since I'm a fan of Ben's work, that's big plus in my book. :).

I ended up grabbing the DVD pre-order too!
I'm still playing Convergence. I think it's good but it's quite buggy. Subtitles tend to miss a letter or even a word, and you can actually mess up the game's scripts by running certain preceding events later on in the game. The voice acting is decent, but not high-quality. You don't need to listen too closely to hear the occasional plosive and pitch variation.

Other than that I like it a lot. Glad you guys managed to snag the DVD on time.
