TParis: Do you have some links about the GPU killing driver?
It's actually related to the one below it one of their drivers turned off fans rather than pegging them at max under certain loads max load + no fan == leaking magic smoke. NV had a very bad spot where they messed up drivers badly for about 3-5 months worse still it was different cards/games having the problems each month. I'd find the stuff on their forums.. but they are still down >.>

I have posted links about this issue on this thread already.

The "nvidia makes better drivers" statement is an internet myth. AMD/ATi has released many fucked up drivers in the past, and they still do, sometimes, but nothing ever came close to such a mess by nvidia.

TParis: There is obviously no point to argue with you. You don't even read my posts properly.
As you can see, it's exactly the other way around. You are the one who doesn't bother reasing my posts.

I missed your earlier posts, yeah. Doesn't change the fact that you didn't bother to read my posts properly, so it's not the other way around. Anyway, let's just leave this be...

I did read them and wrote my arguments to counter yours. Unfortunately, you just made a failed attempt to disqualify my arguments by saying that i didn't read your posts properly. To me it looks like you have ran out of arguments.

Neobr10: No, it isn't, same goes for the point you mentioned, which has been fixed at least 8 years ago.
And THAT is proving my point. ;) What you have said there has nothing to with anything I have written.

Proving what? The Open GL issue has been fixed years ago as a matter of fact, therefore it is not relevant in this discussion.

It hasn't been fixed 8 years ago - it didn't even occur before the release of Catalyst 10.5.

Yes, i made a mistake there. I tought this issue was older, because i actually had an HD5870 at that time (Catalyst 10.5) and i don't recall Open GL support being broken. Maybe i just haven't experienced this issue because i don't update my video card's drivers unless i really need to (to fix bugs i'm experiencing or to get better performance on games i'm currently playing). If i recall correctly i kept Catalyst 10.4 drivers until Catalyst 10.8a, which got AA to work in Starcraft 2.
