How can I think something about it when it does not exist yet? In can be good, or it can be crap.

And the point of that Reddit thread is that Valve is constantly iterating on the Source Engine; we've already seen the "next-gen" Valve engine in that we're seeing what they're doing right now with games like Portal 2 and CS:GO, and the Linux ports of their existing Source-based games.
