Baffling but true
Intriguing. Maybe a deal to get Battlefield 3 on Steam?
A sign that there is 0.00001% chance of getting Valve games to GOG? :p
EA has rights to distribute boxed copies IIRC, so that is probably what they are selling.

Why? EA games are on GOG. If anything this has made Valve games actually possible to appear on GOG. Well the older ones like Half-Life anyway.

The games only seem to show up on the US Origin store so it's an extremely limited deal.

I meant as a step up from 0%. ;)

Well... it's a step. Sorta :D
I like the picture ^^
Would be nice to see the GoldWave (?) and some old Source stuff on GOG (then I could play the Dragonball Z and the soccer mod =3)
Don't care, personally. Even if Valve's games come on GOG or any other service, I won't be buying any of them. Have most of them on Steam... and until Portal 2's price drops to <$5, I don't see any value in buying it... or Dota 2, or anything else that uses Steamworks or can't be cracked in a minute or two (if I were to buy it from Steam).

EA has been the retail distibutor for Valve games since Sierra was bought out in 2005.

In case you didn't notice, the Origin store is EA's webstore and it extends far beyond digital games. You can physical copies of PC games and all other EA console and handheld games. When you click on a Valve game, it only gives the option to buy a physical copy as per the distribution agreement. Nothing to see here folks.

Ah, great. That's what I was going to ask.. thanks.
"Update: The Valve titles offered by Origin are, in fact, boxed retail copies, rather than downloadable versions as indicated. Seeing as EA has published Valve titles at retail for years, this is less world-shattering than originally thought."

What I thought right away. Maybe some people should read up on things before they write articles about hell freezing over.
But the Origina's2for1 site mentioned in the article specifically states : "PC Digital Download Only. Offer Expires Sept 5." The really funny part is the only way you find out the Leaft 4 Dead is physical is when you add it to your cart and it asks you with only one choice. Ahh EA ...clueless and inept at DD as ever.
