Hi. My Mac does is running OS X 10.5.8 with a 1.33 GHz PowerPC G4 processor, thereby not meeting the system requirements listed by GOG. Can I use Boxer to bypass the system requirements listed by GOG? Or is there snore recommended method? Thanks.

any particular game you would like to play?

if a game runs on dosbox, it is usually packaged with boxer already
Specifically, I would like to play Ultima 7: The Complete Edition , which says it requires OS X 10.6.8+ and an Intel processor. I am also interested in Total Annihilation: Commander's Pack, Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, and Sid Meier's Colonization, but Ultima 7 is the real priority.

Ultima 7 is just the dos game in a boxer package. If you can get boxer to work on your rig, you should have no problem getting it to work - either by using the mac download (which just runs it in boxer) or installing the windows download in wine, then moving it to boxer (which is what I used to do before gog supported mac games).

I had some issues with getting the Total Annihilation to work on my mac. I think you will need wine rather than dosbox for that. I had a lot of screen flicker with the gog package. I ended up creating my own wine package and running it in there (or you could try the one from paul the tall).

I think Alpha Centauri is wine as well.

99.9% sure colonisation is a dosbox game (has the file dosbox preferences.conf in the package).

Can't you use innoextract to bypass the wine step?
You can install the Windows version on a Windows system, copy the gamefiles to your Mac and run it with Boxer.
This is how I did it with F117A Stealth Fighter 2.0 which isn't availlable here as Mac version.

Or you can extract the files from the Windows installer like Petrell already said. I think this is the easier way.

never tried it… :)
Thank you for the information here. I installed Boxer and downloaded Ultima 7 and while I couldn't open the program by double clicking it like typical applications, I did "show package contents" of the application, find the "Ultima 7 The Complete Edition.boxer" file in the "Resources" folder, and run that in boxer. I haven't been able to test the gameplay, but I'm happy to report that at least the introductions to each game play. The sound is really spotty, but I am not complaining. Thanks again.
