I'm just wondering how many people have heard about some free game that developers are offering to the masses to gain some interest in their works only to find that the hosting sites are giving people a difficult time pulling down their offerings and demos UNLESS a paid subscription is established with them.

I'm wondering how many indie games are out there right now that absolutely nobody knows about due to word of mouth never getting passed on because the few who did know couldn't be assed to play head games with sites like GameFront and Atomic Gamer that insist you download only through your browser resulting in your 1 gig file 'mysteriously' getting interrupted right before you manage to get those last fifty mega bytes.

The only file sharing site that I've never had a problem with and the only one I would ever bother to use if I wanted to distribute something in that manner is MegaUpload - they've got caps and limits but they play their shit straight.
Are AG and GF that dirty? I used GF back when it was called Filefront, typically for my own purposes. As for AG, it seems a lot of people, especially from the Doom community, have used it before for a lot of miscellaneous files like OSTs. It's too bad if this is true...

It's pretty much most of the game journalism sites. Gamer's Hell isn't too bad but they've all rigged it so that you can't use something like JDownloader - not really necessary if you're only pulling a hundred megs but when the files get up in size you really need to use a downloader that can resume.

Whenever I pull from my browser there's a sixty percent chance the download will get interrupted half way through....for no particular reason other than what seems to be a gimmick to herd people into purchasing an premium download account.
I would've purchased premium with MegaUpload ages ago but there's a concern of identification security.

Rapid Share announced ages ago that they take personal information seriously but the second a lawyer is tossed at them they start singing like a two year old girl on a water board including revealing to every one what you had for breakfast that morning.
