Bonjour et bienvenue sur GOG.com!

We're happy to announce that the site is now available in the native tongue of Molière, ‎Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Honoré de Balzac, Jules Verne, and René Goscinny! Here, at GOG.com we're always trying to make DRM-free entertainment more accesible to gamers around the world. For your convenience we'll be rolling out support for different language versions of our service, and we're starting with French - right now! On top of main page translation, french-speaking support representative is waiting to help you with your game-related problems and answer your questions.

All this is nice, of course, but we know what is the most important part for you: the games! We've already had about 240 titles playable in French in our DRM-free catalog. With today's launch we're rolling out another 30 French versions of titles such as Heroes of Might and Magic 3 Complete, Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, or Darkstone for a nice 270+ French-speaking games total. You can get some of them with a nice discount in our special promo, aptly named "Vive la France", that lasts until Tuesday, November 11, at 4:59AM GMT.

But that's not all. As french cuisine dictates, no meal is complete without something small and sweet for dessert! For the next 24 hours (that is until Saturday, November 8, at 7:59AM GMT), we're giving away a dear French-made classic, Little Big Adventure for FREE a game that's seeing its 20th anniversary! Remember to sign-up for your free copy and celebrate the event with us, and play one of the many memorable oldies coming from France.

Have a nice day, everyone!

P1na: I must say I find it somewhat funny that French was the first language chosen to translate.

johnnygoging: As do I. It is a bit curious. Still, if they're rolling them one at a time, I guess it's a fair pick.
we all love games around here -> French is the language of love -> GOG available in French

I'd say our reasoning is flawless ;-)

Niggles: Im actually quite surprised French came before German version.if anything it feels like there are many more german users of the site? :)

Trilarion: It might be that German users are a bit more anglophone than French ones. Or GOG found a a french speaking community manager first. It may just be coincidence but surely only a matter of time before spanish and german sections will appear here.

I have to admit I support this move now. Although I still feel there is a risk of fragmentation and although I will stay with the english edition just because I prefer a bigger community.

I used to make many giveaways. They were pretty simple. A single "I'm in" would usually be sufficient. Now I wonder if I would post them in the English general forum, member who do not visit it might feel unfairly treated. But duplicating the threads might just be too much work. How and in particular where would you now do giveaways?
You can always just add a line or something that states "French posters welcome!" to your giveaway. Basically something to indicate that everyone's welcome :)

Please don't take this as me telling you what to do with your giveaways :)

korell: For me, GOG is set to English, but I see both English and French in certain places. Is this normal? I certainly hope it isn't otherwise as they add more languages I'll just be seeing pages of translated text.

For example, on today's D&D promo page I have at the top of the page:

If you are using regional currency and this page is showing prices in dollars, don't worry. The prices in your regional currency will show in checkout. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Si vous souhaitez payer en EUR, mais que cette page vous montre uniquement les prix en dollars, pas d'inquiétude : Les prix en EUR apparaîtront sur la page de confirmation d'achat. Veuillez nous excuser pour ce désagrément.

Indru: I came here to say this exact thing. Can't there be some button to switch between languages? I don't want to be forced to see french all over, it's annoying.

Hopefully someone from GOG will take act of this matter and see to it that the french lines disappear from the English website.
The language switch is on the bottom right hand corner of every page :)

(except the English General Discussion forum :) )

korell: Yes, but the language switch isn't turning off the French translations on many parts of the site. As I put in my extract, I can see both English and French on some pages.
Can you send us a Support ticket with screenshots, if possible, via this link:

http://www.gog.com/support/contact/general_website_questions

and selecting "website glitches or accessibility issues" ?

Only asking because I don't see this on the latest version of Chrome so the more feedback we get regarding this issue, the better :)
