I have Windows 7 64-bit and my STEAM versions of X-COM: Ufo Defense and X-COM: Terror From The Deep run without any problems. So far I remember they were working fine right from the start. Only changes I made were in DOSbox, settings to disable filtering options so the pixels were more sharp, I enabled windowed mode, changed scaling settings, etc.

spindown: Yes, I did. Works flawlessly here.

ashout: did you have to tweak it to get it to work?
No, I don't think I changed any of the settings. I did copy the entire game folder to a different location though. I'm not using Steam to launch the game anymore.

Hawk52: Yeah, I did. I've never had a problem with the Steam copy. Did some Dosbox Ini tweaking, added a mod or two, and I even just copied the entire folder over onto a flash drive to take on a trip. Runs without Steam just fine.

ashout: what tweaks did you make?
Just some small things. The game ran kind of slow/laggy, so I went in and modified the DosBox settings to up the speed and the clock.

But it ran even before I did that.
so how about xcom apocolypse? anyone tried the steam version of that on windows 7 64 bit?

Yep. Works for me.

this is great news, you have no idea how much i wanted to play these games, but steam says the arn't supported under win 7!

Menelkir: Both Ufo Defense and Terror from the deep are running perfectly for me on a Windows 7 64bit install. Even the savegames. The Dosbox version used is 0.72 though.
avatar
ashout: are you running the steam version?

and what about xcom apocolypse?

heres my question, does anyone know if they can get the steam versions of xcom ufo defense, terror from the deep, and apocolypse to run on win 7 64 bit?
I am running the Steam versions, i don't have Apocalypse though, just Enemy Unknown and Terror from the Deep. On Windows 7 64bit.

What kind of error messages are you getting?

edit: Steam also says that my momma so fat that Ben Kenobi said: "That's no moon, that's yo momma" Don't believe the specs that Steam has written.

I havn't bought it yet. i just did some reaserch, and people were complaining about red lines when they ran it in fullscreen mode, but in windowed mode it worked fine.

There has always been graphical problems with them but they are rare most people never see them.
UFO: Enemy Unknown and X-Com:Terror from the deep both work fine on my Win7 Ultimate Edition, 32-bit. Both from Steam.

Both use DOSBox.
I've played all 3 of them and they worked fine on my Win7 64bit. Bit of an overreaction in the OP to be honest. Plenty of games that just state Vista, most of those work fine on Win7.

Like Risen. I bought the cd copy, and frankly i have trouble getting it to run on win 7, but sometimes it runs!

I don't remember any trouble with my Steam version of that one, although granted I didn't play it that long. Did you make sure to patch it before playing?

I played and finished my Steam copy of Risen on 64-bit Win7. It's not the game, it's your computer.

that could be, or it could be a difference in the cd version to the steam version. in the cd version, the problem is it says theres no cd in drive or something like that. my dvd player works fine btw, its not that.
