Hey everyone,

Hoping someone could help me out.

It was a sci-fi based PC Game. used multiple 3.5" disks. I cannot remember the title but this is what I remember of the game.

1) You were from Earth / Human planet
2) you traveled to various planets to do missions as well as acquire upgrades for your ship
3) Somehow the plot involved collecting parts for something
4) when you went down to the planet it was a 2D top side view moving around where you could fire your weapons and fought various enemies - though not every planet there was an enemy.
5) I am unsure but I think there was a trade aspect to the game.

can anyone help?

EDITED because remembered some additional info, also sorry for the vagueness. If more comes to me I'll add it

Well, it's probably not Starflight. That started on an Earth-like planet, but it wasn't Earth. And you weren't trying to build something as much as you were trying to find a new place to relocate your planet's population.

Was this game played in first-person from the ship's bridge, like Elite? Or was it top-down, like Starflight?

Could be Star Control II? Later released as multiplatform freeware under the title The Ur-Quan Masters.
Perhaps Elite?
so far none of the ones listed are the ones I am searching for.

It had full color VGA graphics and pretty good sounds

editted original topic with more info

DOSBox?
Your post prompted me to vote for Planet's Edge on the GOG wishlist page.
I wonder if there's any chance GOG can release it - that would be an insta-buy for me.
