Hey all, hoping someone might be able to help me.

I had a demo from PC Gamer years and years ago of a game that looks a lot like Age of Wonders. I'm not sure that it's the same game series though. I've had a look at youtube gameplay of AoW and although the format is similar I don't think it's the same.

I specifically remember you had hero characters and you moved them across a map that was maybe 2D with caves, towers and castles on it. I think it might have been turn-based. The specific detail I remember was that when you took over say, a castle, you had 4 options; you could take it over, you could raze it to the ground and I think you could sack it and something else. Every option had a cool picture next to it, like the building burning and people running away if you were looting it, or a picture of a pile of rubble if you razed it.

It was probably about 10 years ago, maybe more.

I know this is a bit thin, but it was one of those sorts of strategy RPG games (I've never played one before and would like to track this one down) where the graphics aren't flashy but it's really addictive as you take a kingdom over and your heroes improve.

Any help at all would be much appreciated!
Sounds like Warlords (3 to be specific)

Sounds very much like Age of Wonders.

Your forth option with towns is to convert them.

Perhaps it was Age of Wonders 2 or Shadow Magic?
That's it! Wow, that was quick! Great, thanks so much! Hopefully GOG will get it.
Missed the above post, Warlords III is the game I was looking for.
