This might be a tough one. I only saw two minutes of it, at a friend's house, in the 90s. I think it was on PC, though it might have been on the Amiga.

It seemed to be a point and click adventure game, 3rd person, 2D. The specificity that I remember is that a dotted line appeared on the screen to select some actions. I think that, for instance, for the action look or examine, a dotted line was linking your character's eye to the object or element you wanted to check. In general, object selection might have involved a dotted line between your character and the target. I was just struck by this aspect of the interface, and i'd like to see what game it was.

The rest is blurry. I think you were in some sort of castle (bright, crisp, maybe beiged-based, colorfoul environment), and one room may have featured a door with an eye on it or over it. The puzzle there may have involved finding some garlic to make that eye cry.

So, that's not much, but hopefully enough. I have checked many games, and asked the question often, but never got a convincing answer. Could GoG be the right place to ask ?

Not sure about the specific puzzles, as I only ever played a demo a long time ago, but I believe the dotted line thing is in Shadow of the Comet.

It's not that one.

But yeah, I vaguely remember dotted lines in Shadow of the Comet. I've played that one (why do I always forget to mention it as one of the best adventure games ?). The one seek may be older, I think its graphics were more simple (a bit more more like Sierra/Delphine/Lucasarts). I also think the setting was more medieval (fantasy). OOOOH yes it looks pretty much like that one !

(i've investigating videos and screenshots to be certain, but it really looks like that - seems the couple of minutes i saw were misleading, the game is much more varied and crazy than i expected)

i am 100% sure it is the correct game. ;) and it is an odd game, in aspect of gameplay, storyline, the looks.
shadow of the comet is also very recommended and both made by infogrames.

if you want you can mark your question as solved.

Yes, I was just waiting for absolute certitude. No full longplays, but I found a walkthrough that mentionned the door eyes and the onion. Thank you a lot.

And given the dotted lines of Comet, I should have immediately investigated in the specific direction of Infogrames. But at least, now I understand why I couldn't find it : I was really thinking all the game was like the bit I saw, so I was looking amongst pure adventure games. This seems like a weird hybrid instead. I didn't expect the Drakkhen 3D travels. Also an Infogrames thing, it seems.

I love Infogrames. They're really behind a lot of my favorites, on Amiga.

Also, Eternam had ONE (1) vote in the wishlist. What the hell.
