So I bought the retail copy and I'm playing the first mission now. Looks more like an exppack then a full game. I don't mind supporting them though, but where's Juanito??
I hear the island size is finally decent is it really true? Can we finally you know actually get beyond a small town?
I'm only at the first mission so I can't verify. But on the box they said:

Story-driven campaign consisting of 20 missions on 10 new maps up to three times the size of previous installments.

But Juanito seems to be gone, no more wacky announcements. Ugh!
A lot of complaints about this on their forum. There's new buildings, and the graphics were.. changed, but for a lot of people not for the better. (but better for performance)

It would have been more realistic to call it an expansion I think.

Size is bigger but apparently the roads still can't handle more so size is still limited.

From what I hear it could've used more work :)

first xpac will have dual carriageways so you can have larger areas covered most likely
I like the franchise so much that I won't mind that there is not so much new. Joystiq called it Tropico 3.75

I played it at gamescom and yes... i think the same. It felt more like an expansion pack, not like a new game. Will definately NOT get it and stay with Tropico 3 + Absolute Power instead. Maybe i'll get it on a sale someday, but for now it's too much money for me for what i think is a standalone addon.

No radio at all? Juanito wasn't in Absolute Power, either. I mean, he appeared a few times but mostly it was Betty Boom, the freedom fighter radio woman thing.

I have Absolute Power installed but I haven't played it lol. Completed Tropico 3 though. I haven't really heard any radio or announcements other than Penultimo coming on once a while. I miss Juanito, he brought life to Tropico 3 so did the music.
Anyone know if there are any plans for a GOG release of Tropico 4? And if so, any chance it will include all the DLC as well as the expansion pack? :)
