This Saturday, join us for a hot preview on Twitch.tv/GOGcom!

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, a gripping narrative-focused thriller inspired by the early XX. century pulp horror stories, delivering a non-linear story of an investigation with some occult undertones, and sporting some gorgeous first person-perspective graphics, is available for Pre-Order on GOG.com. TotalBiscuit (also known as The Cynical Brit), is one of the most recognizable YouTube gaming personalities, known for his adventurous "WTF is..." series presenting and reviewing new titles on the market. Unknown gems, bloCkbusters, indies - he does them all. If you're wondering WTF is The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, and why so many people are excited about its upcoming launch, TotalBiscuit will be your guide! Note that the stream is a part of our previously announced eSports team sponsorship deal, and the host is not directly benefiting from showcasing the game (as he explains in detail via this post).

Oh, and don't worry about spoiling the game for yourself. The preview version we'll be streaming this Saturday only reveals the initial part of the story and plays out in the location you might have seen in the gameplay trailer. This doesn't mean there won't be any surprises, though! The weird-fiction inspired gameworld holds many secrets and only some will be revealed...

Join us this Saturday (September 20) at 8:00PM GMT (that'S 1:00PM PST, 4:00PM EDT) on our official Twitch.tv/gogcom channel to see our third Twitch show. Subscribe and stay with us, to find out what shows we have in store for the coming Thursdays and what other fantastic hosts did we invite to our channel.

Not exactly Twitch-savvy? No problem! You can now see the whole thing right here.

LynetteC: Thanks CorranHorn but all I get is a message saying that the stream is on a break and it has been all day.

stg83: It actually starts at 6:45, you have to wait for a while for it to load and then you can forward it to that time by using the slider on the video.
Ha, that's not confusing much! lol

Thanks CorranHorn. :-)

Yeah it is confusing because it only made sense during the Live Stream and bound to cause some confusion when watching the recording of it. Although your query was aimed towards CorranHorn who provided you the correct link, I responded instead because I was also looking to provide the link of the video with the additional info of the starting point of the gameplay. :)

Yes, forgot about the video not beginning at the start, I missed that when I skipped forward to make sure the link worked. My bad=).

Oops, sorry stg83 - I was obviously too carried away with the idea of being able to watch the game to take notice of the person who responded so let me just put that right - 'Thank you stg83'. Have a +1 to compensate for my inattention. :-)

By the time I'd watched the first 25-30 minutes I'd learned two things:

1. It's a beautiful game and exactly the kind of story I love so it looks like GOG will be taking more of my money, and

2. I really shouldn't watch somebody else play a first person point and click game! I don't normally suffer from motion sickness and I've played plenty of similar style games but watching this seriously made me feel sick! :-(

The question is, do I pre-order? It's not someting I normally do but I took the chance with Ether One and certainly didn't regret it. I've also pre-ordered Witcher 3 for obvious reasons. :-)

I noticed TotalBuiscuit's comments about spam on the Twitch chat and I saw the screenshot posted earlier in the thread. Did these idiots come across from TB's channel because he has mods who kicked them off? We certainly didn't have any problems with spam during Rurikhan's run through of Defender of the Crown last week.

TotalBuiscuit mentioned GOG didn't have any mods present which is why the chat was flooded with spam.

LynetteC: *snip*
Its no problem, no need to make amends since you were distracted by the game. I understand experiencing motion sickness because TB was running a lot instead of walking in the playthrough and I also have trouble playing FPS for a very long period of time due of it sometimes. As for pre-ordering the game, it depends on how much you saw of the gameplay and was it enough for you to make a decision to confirm that you would definitely enjoy it. You can probably have a better idea after watching the rest of the video. :)

As for the spam in the comments not being the case in earlier streams is probably because TB is one of the most famous youtubers with arguably the largest following so it wasn't just the GOG crowd on the Twitch chat but a lot of other people including the usual spamming idiots as on any channel. So because there wasn't any moderation from GOG, things soon got out of hand and TB switched to his own channel to read the moderated chat instead. I hope next time GOG would be better prepared to deal with such situations because they certainly would want people to watch the stream on their channel instead of TB's.

The funny thing is I've played loads of these games (and I also use run instead of walk a lot) and have never experienced any sickness. I guess it's because I didn't have control of the controls as it were. :-)

I've been back and managed to watch the rest and I found myself talking to the screen telling him where to go and what order to do the reconstruction in - and I was right too. :-) I think my bank account is going to be £14.99 lighter before I go to bed.

Yeah following someone else's lead can be jarring since you're not the one in control. I was also talking to the screen during the crime scene reconstruction which just goes to show that the game is certainly capable of getting you invested in to the story and makes you feel involved which is what every good game aspires to do. I'll personally wait for some reviews but from what I have seen of the game so far it definitely has all the ingredients of being a potentially great game. :)
zero regrets on pre-ordering this game!
