monkeydelarge: Then show some proof. Being born in 1977 and gaming since you were 5 years old is not enough to back you up. You don't expect us to just accept the word of some stranger on the internet that barely posts here , do you? There was no obsession with online stuff, meaning stuff like Facebook in 1992... That is just common sense. Just like there was no obsession with iPhones in 1992. The only thing he said, that is wrong is "No one complained that games are sucking" because it's human nature to complain. People have been complaining since the beginning of time about everything.

Elmofongo: Alright than when we meant games sucking. We knew that certain sucks like Action 52, Shaq Fu, etc.

No one back then complained against practically every publisher in AAA gaming.
I agree that there was less complaining back then but there was also less douchebag behavior from the gaming industry back then.

I understand the gaming industry was less asshole-ish. But how long are we gonna keep this air of negativity up? Already I lost my hatred of gaming industry.

I hated Resident Evil 6, but than grew to accept it, and then Capcom announces Resident Evil 1 Remake HD for Xbox/ PS, and PC.
I'm old... ._.

Definitely Ecco, I'm not sure that the other interpretation makes much sense.

Also, I really enjoyed the second Ecco game - there is some seriously wild stuff in that game. Oh, and some great music too.
25 years already? *heads to hobby room and rummages through boxes*
Now's the perfect time to see what Sonic looks like on a 46" LED tv :-P
Happy B-Day to my favorite console!
Firing up Boogerman this instant to celebrate. :)
Ah! Well, umm, how do i put this... I like these news! That console had a lot of sentimentality over me. I was still in first school when i got in touch with it, in a friend's house. The very first game we played was street fighter (i don't remember the number).

I had always been a geek and a nerd, up until middle school. Thanks to excessive reading, only there and then, i got reacquainted with it (gaming console + video games), and melted down games like Golden Axe, Sonic the Hedgehog, Probotectors, mickey and donald quack attack, and, well, others (which will be omitted because you will laugh).

At high school i got really hooked up on emulators, downloaded a huge list of roms, and discovered real gems like Castlevania Bloodlines, Streets of Rage, Altered Beast, Dragonball Z and countless others, well known titles, or not.

My age is almost identical to that of Sega Genesis itself, so for me, all the more significance to add to the whole event. This, alongside SneS, as well as the old duel between mario and sonic itself, is what i remember from way back then. I was one of those few that did not choose, though, but rather adopted both (companies, mascots, consoles, games)...
At that time, consoles had a soul, each had something of different from the others (games, design, marketing politics...).
Nowadays, it's just a debate around "who has the biggest d... graphic quality, processor... ?" (games are released on all consoles, consoles design are ugly (I hate Xbox360 controller which I find too big), marketing is just focus on how to decrease price of the console compare to the competitors...).

BrandeX: "1992 is when I was born"

Apparently.

Having been born in 1977 and gaming since I was 5 years old, I can tell you that every generalization you made about gaming and the games industry the early 90's is completely wrong.

You're not going to get far "playing that card". Start here:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Logical_fallacies and learn about forming an argument. Anyway:

Plenty of games sucked in the 8 and 16 bit era, you can still see and read about them today. People bitched about crappy games all the time, if you didn't happen to rent it first, you may have gotten screwed (or resealed it back in the box and returned it to the store as "unopened"), stores wouldn't let you return games you had already tried, tough luck sucker.
There were a dozen or more video gaming magazines in the 1990's. Nintendo Power wasn't the only one. There were many games that were on multiple consoles, and Sega & Nintendo aren't the only consoles out at the time, but are the main 2 that anyone probably had.

I don't see how my words = logical fallacy. Just because you think I used poor reasoning, doesn't make it so.
