I've made a tutorial on how to snipe using a PSO-1 scope. Considering I play it online every weekend and see people pass up the Russian weapons in favor of US ones based on the complaint that "The scope is too confusing and I can't zero it", I felt that an actual tutorial explaining the nomenclature and aiming system was necessary. So far it's helped a few people, so I figured I'd let the community have a go at it.

Scope Tutorial
Nice, thanks. I'm recently back into ArmA after a few months long hiatus. I'm overwhelmed by all the stuff at ArmAHolic.
I already knew all that (self thought myself in OPF), but the tutorial is really simple and gets the point across real quick.
Must... resist itch... to get ArmA II. Must not... spend money... on more powerful laptop.
This has forever scared me from playing Arma.

Scope Tutorial
By the way, I just realized that we play online together all the time. At least during the PCG game nights. I'm "Keenan."
The only thing I will stress that is briefly touched on in the video:

It is INCREDIBLY difficult to snipe at distances greater than 600m based on the zoom level of the scope. I've been practicing quite a bit to make a supplement video, but at greater distances, you will miss shots more often, or hit non-vital areas. I shot a soldier at 820m and he took 4 shots to the body before he died (Combo arm and legs since he was prone and I only saw him from the side) and it took almost a whole 10 round magazine to finally down him. A target at 900+ is near impossible to accurately target, and more often than not you will hit a non-vital spot or scare the shit out of him.

All in all tho, most of the time you will HIT your target, and since the whole point of sniping is to disable targets from a distance, it does a great job at that. The KSVK is still the best sniping platform for the OPFOR tho, since its easier to hit those targets at longer ranges.

Now that we are talking 'bout Arma, I've remembered an old question which bothered me for quite some time - is Arma fun if you are going to only play singleplayer?

It's fun, but its strongest suit is when played online cooperatively. The rush one gets in the midst of a mission is something not found in the single-player portion.

Evan was talking about this with a ArmA II newbie last week, he said the single player campaign is still a little weak, in both vanilla ArmA II and Operation: Arrowhead. The real meat of ArmA is in the armory mode, the editor, single player missions, and of course, multiplayer.
