Is there a list/thread/page somewhere depicting the current status of Windows 7 compatibility of GOG games from a practical point of view? If not one might like to invent one. Something like "reported to run on Win 7 without problems/ with the following rare problems...".

Btw. all the GOG games I played run on Windows 7. Battle Isle needed some privileges and The Incredible Machine is falsely scanned as a virus but otherwise everything is fine.

Dahmer666: Thanks guys. I've posted on related forums, received plenty of help and advice and none of it has worked so far. I can play very few games from this site on my new PC. I was really in the mood for Heroes of Might and Magic 3 the other day, but couldn't play it. Very strange, I'll post my computer's specs in a bit.

dirtyharry50: HoMM3 doesn't like multi-core CPUs. There is a post about this on the GOG forum for the game with a link to a small utility that fixes the .exe so it runs okay on multi-core CPU systems.
I set all of the files in the homm3 folder that have exe extensions to run in win98 compatibility, and I never had a crash after that.

I never had to change the affinity due to multi-core issues, but I use the HD (hi-res) mod that uses it's own exe to launch the game.

DieRuhe: Same here. When I saw "low rating" I gave it a boost. My first thought was, "Come on, people, look at his name - what don't you get?" It made me laugh, and it certainly didn't come across as mean-spirited or anything (but apparently calling people "stupid" generally gets no reaction at all...).
Jeffrey Dahmer is not exactly a household name outside of the US. If non-Americans don't get the joke, it's probably because they've either never heard of him outside Demolition Man (where they probably thought he was fictional).

With the games you are habing problems with all work fine on windows 7 64 bit here. As much as you can try and make games compatable the configuration of different computer parts such as motherboard, ram, hard drive, gfx card etc goes testing every single configuration is impossible.

Try contacting customer support they are very helpfull although you may have to wait a day or two but its worth it if they can give you a solution to your problem.

Dahmer666: Most of my favorite games aren't even compatible with Windows 7. I thought one of the points of GOG was to make old games playable again on newer OS's. I can imagine how tough it must be to upgrade every game for new setups, but it's frustrating not being able to play Alpha Centauri, Baldur's Gate series, Ultima 7, etc on my new computer.
all the games i've bought on GOG (100+) work flawlessly on W7x64, including the 3 you mentioned. how the hell could Ultima 7 NOT work on W7?!? it's running in freaking DOSBOX for christ's sake!
I have more problems with laptops and that lousy "optimus technology" than the ones related to windows 7.
