a man: "aah.... nice ride home now from work... dum de dumm..."
A man gets home.
a man: "so, what's on the TV?"
A man turns tv on. There's some random sit-com show.
a man: "Umm.... should I grab a beer? Uhh.. no, I think I'll just eat cyanide instead."
He rises from the sofa, climbs up the stairs, it's dark.
a man: "I should be careful to turn on the lights lest I trip on something and get accidentally hurt, which would be unfortunate".
A man turns the lights on, finds cyanide, eats it. It's not tasty. He dies.

Hey isn't this what happens at the end of the final song on "Metropolis Part 2: Scenes From A Memory"? (A concept album by the band Dream Theater. The story is a mystery/crime story seen through the eyes of the reincarnated victim.)
A man comes home, turns on the tv, turns it off, goes upstairs, turns on the light and something disturbing happens. The voice of the therapist says "Open your eyes Nicholas", the protagonists reacts badly on this and the background music turn to noise.
Thinking of it it wouldn't make much sense for the protagonist to take his own life. Maybe the therapist killed him instead. I think that the protagonist was the reincarnation of the murdered girl and that the therapist was the reincarnation of her jealous lover who killed her. Hmm, it would not make much sense for the therapist to kill him either, there is no law against having killed someone in a former life......I think I have lost the track here.

Your description is correct, but I think it refers to a dream where Nicholas was in no therapist at all, and he wakes to a TV displaying static on a lonely night. Anyway there's home, there's a TV, there's stairs, and there's death (potentially).
Great album.

He turns on the TV, goes upstairs, turns on the light, then he finds out that Jack Bauer isn't real through telepathic communication with an alien creature from Mars, and out of depression kills himself.

Also, I'm a Nord who likes to bash bash SHIELD BASH!! Sometimes I even use the mace to bash. Shouting at bears because I hate them is so much fun. Stupid bears, keeping all the leather for themselves, telling me not to put the forest on fire... I met a woman who also hates the bears, and that I should kill them. I like her, just might not bash her at all.
