Just for contrast: What I played at age 14, and what I play at age 30. Those were definitely some of my top favorites at the time, and, for the most part, they're as enjoyable today as they were then. I find it peculiar that despite the number of games being made each year has gone up astronomically, there were more games created at the time that I really was interested in within a span of two/three years than what's being released these days. The mid to late '90s certainly were a great time to be a PC gamer, even if that transition from DOS to Windows was a bit of a pain in the ass.
Sidenote: Descent 1+2 was my first GOG purchase. Still fabulous.

What's even more accurate is that I'm still playing the games I used to play when I was 14. Thanks to gog.com
