Most people who are into Total War and modding most probably know about this for a looong time, but I have just discovered it and am posting this for the less fortunate (just as I am!) Third Age: Total War is a game that does what most of us wanted: Total War in the Middle Earth. I know that BFME tried, but it was far too simplistic as far as I'm concerned, this mod brings it with all: economy, diplomacy, and of course, warfare.

I won't really go into much detail about how amazing it is, just look at the Rohan intro. Yes, every race's got one (some voiced.) And every race's got a thematic HUD. It's a mashup of lore from books and a lot of assets from the movie, so just ... Go and download it before it gets ceise and desist.

Oh also, look, Moria!
I feel lonely
Is this mod about some elderly people going to university? "Third Age" as in "Third Age University" ?

I bought Medieval 2 mainly to play this mod ;-)

That said, it's still on my "to play" list, with a mental "caution: might suck up a lot of time you don't have" warning.
Oh wow. The team has done so much stuff to make the battle maps "real." The last version I played was 2.0 I think, so that was quite a while ago, and they were just working on modeling the different cities and towns and places that were going to be unique.

So amazing. It makes me want to reinstall Med2. haha
I've played 300 hours of this mod (and about 200 hours of the Rome LOTR mod)

I freakin' love this mod.
Ah yes. i played this mod a lot. A lot. the mod its self is rather great and dam they do have some great submods for it, which can make the mod even more fun. my favorite submod would be mos. Does redo the stats and traits for many units and lowers the range of petty much all archer units. which does take a bit of getting used to if you when from the main mod to using mos.
