So, I bought the repackaging of Super Mario All-Stars, only because I either lost or pawned or traded my original SNES cartridge long ago. I'm a little disappointed that the only extras included in the box are a "History of Mario" booklet and a "Music of Mario" CD. Both can be found easily on the internet for free, so it's not like it's anything special. I'm not saying it's a bad thing that they kept the original SNES game intact, but c'mon, it's a Wii disc, you could at least fit in a new graphic mode on it. Something that looks like the New Super Mario Bros. If you're just going to re-release the original game with no real change, then why not just add it to your WiiWare VC library? And add that other crap to your Nintendo Points Rewards closet?

What do you guys think?

PS, is it safe to discuss ROM hacks here? Or does that stray into the piracy zone?
New Super Mario Bros. is the new graphic mode.

ZING!
Yes, the anniversary box is a huge disappointment.
They should've included Super Mario World as well and the extra's are very.. perfunctory
So they rereleased an old game in a new shiny box for the anniversary and chucked on whatever extras came out of the mario lucky dip? Presumably they charged full price for it

Actually, if you look in EB they only charge 30 bucks for it... Whereas every other Mario is always 80. And DS versions are always 70 (second hand is always 60)

So yeah I think that IS a decent price.
Wow, sounds like someone slipped up!

This release is literally just ROMs on a disc. They could maybe throw a smoothing filter on it, but that's about it. The same goes for everything on the Virtual Console.
There's not a great deal using any filters on the Wii, it doesn't have the resolution output to make it all that sharp.

But yes, this is a joke of a package. Lazy shovelware at its worst.
A shame really, if they had spent some more time on the History of Mario and perhaps included something like a deck of cards with Mario and his enemies on them it would've been a certain buy from me.
Or perhaps some of those cards that Nintendo made when they weren't making videogames (although I think they might still produce some).

Cards are already on the Nintendo Club Rewards list. They wouldn't want to screw up people buying lots of stuff to collect a pittance of points to get some crap cards, would they?

@Virama
Some third party sellers (not really second hand, just independent merchants) are charging up to $100 USD for this. Gouging at it's finest.

I thought we western Europeans all shared the same store. I recently got a SNES classic controller (physically a SNES controller but electronically a Wii Classic Controller).
