lowyhong: You mean, destroy the DS and mutate the bug to a size of epic proportions?
Considering that it was Japanese engineers that designed it, the OP should just ask Nintendo what the appropriate contingency plan is for massively enlarged mutant bugs that result from unsuccessfully nuking them from orbit is.

They have to have one, isn't it, like, law in Japan or something.
Heh if you start cooling the DS the bug won't go anywhere, coldblooded it will just slow down - go dormant and then probably die if you keep it too cold for too long.

Chances are the thing is probably stuck in there after working its way inside and the physical removal is going to be the only way to get it out, though it might move/fall out of the screen area and not cause any problems.

However bugs can get into some strange places - had a small solar powered spotlight that wasn't working; opened it up and there were 3 earwigs inside - and that was a pretty sealed unit!

I've also had (I seem to have an attraction to them) an earwig work its way into my DSLR mirror section! One time I glanced down and bam - crawling up inside the mirror and all over my viewfinder was the little devil ---- I never actually saw it fall out either, but I've not seen it since (far as I know its still in there --- somewhere!)

Daedolon: Nuke it from orbit.
If you do that, you are going to have to battle the bug's mother.
What ever method you want to try, you should probably do while leaving it alone in a seperate room. You mentioned trying to draw it out with a flashlight, but if you're standing there, a billion times bigger than the insect, making strange human noises, the bug is likely to be terrified and stay put.
I just checked.
It's still in there.

Kabuto: I've had a spider crawl into my laptop through the air vent. After about five minutes I'm like what the hell maybe it'll flee if I turn it on and can't handle the excessive heat. Five minutes after I turn it on I see it poike a leg out and eventually crawl out completely only to be met with a magazine.

Maybe put a heat source next to the ds and some sugar water to lure it out.
That's a pretty decent plan.
I'll give it a shot.

ceemdee: Just start playing one of these games. That should get it to vacate your DS pretty quickly. Well, unless it dies instead.
I don't think I'm ready for that just yet.

I read up that putting my DS somewhere overly cold isn't the best idea.
I'm honestly just hoping it dies somewhere off-screen due to a lack of food/water.

While this is a good idea, it's a lot harder to execute due to me living in a single-space, college dorm-room. The most I could do is put my DS in a container of some-sort out of sight.

I'm not entomologist, but I'd expect that an insect small enough to crawl into your DS and appear on the screen is likely so small that you are simply too big for it to comprehend - ie you being in the room or not really won't make much difference to the world at its scale (though direct bumps to its environment - the DS - it will likely react to.
Well, I doubt the bug is even alive anymore.
This particular spot has been on the screen in the same location since yesterday.
Truth be told, I don't even know if what I'm looking at IS the bug.
If it is, though, then unfortunately this means the bug died on screen, so the only way to really get rid of it now would be to open up the system and take the bug out myself.

Ah, well, thanks for the suggestions everyone.
I really do appreciate the help. Not really sure who I should mark as the solution, or if I should even mark anyone as it, but there you have it. Thanks again.

The little bastard could of died anywhere in your DS but died under your screen.. WOW sounds like the bug hated you.
