Game ch-ch-ch-changer!

GOG.com is pleased as punch to announce that The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition, developed by sister company CD Projekt RED, will be coming to PC on the 17th of April! Just like when CDP RED updated the original Witcher to The Witcher: Enhanced Edition, this comes with scads of upgrades and extras for you to enjoy. The good news is that anyone who owns The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings before the 17th will receive the upgrade to the Enhanced Edition for free!

Note: This upgrade is available to everyone who has bought The Witcher 2, not just folks who bought it from GOG.com. The upgrade will be free from now until the heat death of the universe, available through the in-game launcher.

In celebration, we’re offering The Witcher 2 on sale for 15% off, starting now, for the next two weeks.

In case you didn’t hear the news from CDP RED, let’s go over what’s new and awesome about the Enhanced Edition:

New major adventures set in new locations. These consist of an underground system of chambers beneath Loc Muine and a temperate coniferous forest in the Loc Muine mountains, and a secret cave passage. These new adventures will add several hours of story-based gameplay to the game.

New major characters to the Witcher story. One of them is Brigida Papebrock Dame. This noble woman comes from the Temerian family Papebrock and is a 30 year old lady-in-waiting of the Temerian court. The other characters are secret--for now!

All new animations and cut scenes, including a new, three and a half minute pre-rendered cinematic depicting the assassination of King Demavend of Aedirn. BAFTA Award winner and Academy Award nominee Tomasz Baginski brings this key historical event to life, setting the stage for the story told in The Witcher 2.

GOG.com will also be adding the Witcher comic book to our list of goodies on the 17th as a free gift to everyone who owns the Witcher 2; further, there will be a new game map, game guide, manual, and soundtrack available in your free goodies on that day as well.

The Witcher 2 is already a game that has won--in scientific notation--a gazillion awards. Come this April 17th, it’s going to get even better!

Roman5: I have a red ''1'' update message on my account, I keep clicking it and it takes me to my game library but nothing is happening

the game that's updated isn't displayed and the notification message doesn't go away
It was a high quality art book for Witcher 2 or something, at least my update was.
where are you seeing exactly what was updated?

Click on "The Witcher 2", and next to the "High Quality Artbook" there should be a small red "NEW".
avatar
GameRager: So that's all that was updated in the current update for TW2? I don't have/need to redownload anything else to keep my files up to date?
avatar
klaymen: Yep, that's it.

lugum: that's the only thing updated.
Thanks to both of you. :)
thanks for the replies, now I see it

I think the issue here is that when you click on the update it should automatically take you to the updated game, I have many games in my collection and it's quite hard to spot which ones have been updated

Thanks. I have no "NEW" next to my artbook. I'm guessing this was a one time only display that I didn't notice the first time I expanded it?

My suggestion to GOG is that they make this a little more clear what exactly is being updated. Re-downloading the 15 GB installer when it was the artbook that was updated is a tad... silly :p

If clicking the "Game updated" notification went to the updated titles automatically how would the system now which to automatically go to if more than one of a user's owned titles were updated? I think they should just make it easier to spot the updated titles(Maybe highlight the box art until you click it.).
Or just giving users a Private message with a short description of the update.
Thanks for the new artbook GOG/CDPR, the extra material that wasn't in the first one is great.

I wish they would give us more control over what things are marked as read. Sometimes I want to check a response but not respond immediately, but the thread gets marked as read. Other times I don't want to read it because things are getting flamey and I'm not in a state of mind to just leave it alone if I read it.

Same here, most of the time I can just download the update immediately, but for TW2, if they update the game, that's going to be a real PITA to download and at this point I don't even have a system that will run it.
I, too, found it a little difficult to identify what had changed on my game list but I have to say I really like the notification. I had to pour through my game list (200+ titles) but I finally found the Witcher 2 EE with the "updated" notification. I literally groaned at the thought of another 15 gig d/l but was pleased to see the art book highlighted.

Also, I noticed that the downloader alerted me that I had an update. So, I agree that there's more room for improvement but I really like the update notice.

Kudos GOG!
