Hello all. I am quite a large fan of the IE games and I used to follow the modding sites regularly. However I don't have as much time as I used to and only rarely check up on the sites.
Over time the sites have slowed down and eventually modding on many of them seem to have ceased. The last two to really show modding progress were the gibberlings 3 and the pocket plane group, though spell hold studios were working on them as well.

Now though mods seem to vary rarely be updated, esp on the pocket plane group. I was wondering if anyone here was more familiar with the state of the IE (esp IWD and BG) modding scene and would mind giving me a quick over-view. I know that sounds awfully lazy of me but, well, if I had the time I would not be writing this.

The reason I am interested again is that I am taking a short hiatus from work and so I have some free time. I am thinking of starting an IWD to IWD 2 game with as many mods as look interesting attached. If anyone can give me recommendations regarding mods then I would be appreciative : )

I won't tell you much, but I have to say that during last year I noticed a major slowdown with in the IE modding scene.

I'm affraid not many new mods appear (except for the beginning of 2011), and now only Gibberlings 3 and Spellhound remain active.

Lately (end of 2011) new NPC for BG2 were released.

I'm afraid we won't see anything big (quest mods, not speaking about total conversions), and IE modding is ending. Hope I'm worng.
I only know about the mods listed in the games forums here on GOG. There seem to be a lot of them, though.

Hopefully we can start spreading the IE games through GOG and encourage more players to start playing/modding them. But I'm afraid that Skyrim is going to suck up a lot of the modding energy this year.

Yea, that's what I have seen. It has been happening for a while but I really noticed the slow down after Compton left.
