Anyone find they spend more time hunting down games than playing the ones that they actually find?

Just went searching for Oni (it was the first game that I ever bought for the PS2).
Spent about an hour on a wild goose chase only for it to dawn on me:

I'm chasing down some really dusty old stupid shit that most gamers completely mocked when it was first released and wasting valuable moments of life doing so.

Anyone else have a strange OCD with trying to find and get rare software to run?

I know I have an OCD with collecting old and new games on my HDD/irl game shelves/etc.

Lol.

For years my ultimate gaming goal was to experience a fully functional Ultima Ascension. I purchased upon release and it was so buggy I couldn't get the game to run, store wouldn't take the game back either and I eventually ditched it on eBay.

So finally, after a decade I managed to scavenge and salvage a full version completely patched with all of the patches and tweaks that came out for it over the years and got to see it running in it's full splendor and glory.

Less than twenty four hours later I was involved in about ten other games I found and haven't been back to Ascension since.
Yeah, specially when I have work to do.
All my DOSBox's experiments were made when I had college stuff hanging around my desktop, looking at me and judging my procrastination (like right now).
I'm too lazy for that. My biggest problem is the games that are on sale in front of me.
I'e stopped doing that. The itch to buy without much thought just because it's cheap is always there, but i always try to remind myself i have a backlog I'm not likely to ever finish and sometimes I end up buying games that are highly recommended but I don't find that enjoyable.

I decided not to purchase the HB 5 for this very reason. It's the very best bundle ever, but I'm not that good at platformer games. Bastion, Limbo, Meatboy... I'm not likely to finish any of those. What's the point then?
I do that so much. Hell, there's a few games on my GOG shelf that I haven't even downloaded, and I've never even played half of my collection for more than maybe half an hour, if that. My rule nowadays is that I won't buy any new games unless it's something I've pirated in the past.

This is one of the precise reasons I tend toward playing games on my console if possible.

Bastion, save for the optional challenges, is really easy. Go ahead and play it, the average 10 year old should be able to complete that game.

Collect for the fun of collecting maybe? Share your purchases with family, or pass what you don't play on to others when and if you can no longer play games ever again? :\
