Well I'm not actually sure if the game 'The great art race' is actually on GoG, but I just bought it in a pack with Patrician 3 and got a lot of useful help here for getting Patrician to work.
My problem is that launching the game gets me a 3 second cut scene saying ASCARON (the same opening to Patrician 3) but then the game crashes and i get the following errors.
I am running Windows 7 and I have tried all compatibility modes, running as admin etc.
To get patrician 3 working I had to put an edit in to the registry that I found on this very site.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Also as far as i can tell the company Ascaron was made insolvent in 2009 so they no longer have any support for their games

I'm not sure if i can help, but I have the same pack from Steam and run Win7 64-bit. The Great Art Race starts up and runs perfect for me, without administrator mode and regardless of whether I run it with the Intel Graphics Card or The NVIDIA one. The only difference I see is that my Steam is installed in C:\Users\Public\Games, instead of C:\Program Files. I don't know if it will help, but maybe try installing the game somewhere outside of Program Files, Like C:\Steam\ or something. It should require you to reinstall Steam to do this, however. I don't remember if Steam will let you setup a new install Library location from the Settings, Download+Cloud Tab by default or if it requires the latest Steam Beta, since I am running the Beta, but perhaps dropping the game outside of the Prgram Files or Program Files (x86) folder will help. That's all I can think of; hope it helps.
I got the game from GamersGate, no problems here either (on Win7 64bit).

Ascaron doesn't exist anymore, that's correct. You could still try to contact the publisher (someone must have the rights, otherwise they couldn't sell the game).

Also, try the usual stuff: Install in a non-protected folder, run as admin, play with compatibility settings ...
You could also try the Software compatability toolkit

There is ONE setting I use with older games called "SingleProcAffinity" and "VirtualRegistry" fixes a LOT of problems also just play around with every setting until the game runs

Tried this, been playing around with it for a while and whilst i did get futher in to it loading it was only about 3 seconds extra before the crash, going to carry on trying fixes and will post which worked
I wanted to bring this thread back just to see if the problem was solved?

I bought this game and it crashes the same way as the OP's did. I am running Win 7 64-bit.

Any help to get this game running would be fantastic!
Can anyone help me get this game working?
