While I get that people have differing opinions and what not in games, some will express that in the review section, others maybe the forum. Anyways the point i'm trying to bring up is while yes, knowing the most helpful review or most recent one is useful, the people who smash the game into tiny little bits get flamed by how useful the review was. What is your opinion on this, also, how would you respond to such a comment on a game you enjoyed but see someone who so blatantly hated it. How do you feel when your opinion on how bad a game was is so hated. Please express your thoughts here, and I'll see you later.
Well, if I like some game like really, really much, and some guy comes and says that he hates the game, I'll go "oh..." and like maybe start thinking about what to eat today.
The GOG reviews seem to be 9/10ths people who haven't played the game in the last decade, but remember really liking it as a kid. I take them for what they're worth.
I think we really need a way to sort reviews by score. I want to look at bad and middling reviews to see if people don't like things I don't like. As it is, you have to dig through a bunch of pages to get past the five and four star reviews, which aren't really useful without a point of comparison.

Oh, and as to the actual question: Who cares if someone else hates a game you love?

alot of people it seems. It's funny since most of those type of people who want you to respect their love of something that is disliked by another(or others) but don't want to respect someone else's right to dislike it. People need to accept not everyone is going to like what you like or hate what you hate, grow a thicker skin and learn to deal with other's opinions on them. I and a lot of people hate Ultima IX and Dues Ex Invisible war, you like it great but don't act like no one else can state their opposite opinion on them you want people to respect your like of them then respect our hatred of them, no one is saying that you have to agree with it but instead accept that people don't feel the same with you and are in their right to express it.

Yes, this is a problem.
And for some reason people are afraid of using the whole scale. Nearly every reviewer gives a game five stars, even though their own comments not always back up the full score.

Solution: Don't bother with arbitrary score system. Read the beginning of a few reviews and you will get a pretty good idea of what the game is about. Checking YouTube for some gameplay videos could be a good idea as well.

It's a pity the days of demos are gone but hopefully Gaikai can change that..sort of.

There are other options. Saved me from wasting money on Sniper 2. Didn't like the demo, but remembered the open levels of Sniper 1 and thought "This can't be how the game plays?".

But it was (at least the first few I played).
