being a great fan of the old sierra (and lucasarts) games. i was looking to perhaps buying them. but i was really surprised at the cost of $9.99.
many would like to see $5.99 for any game but i can't really see the warrant why these games have to be $9.99 especially because they are so old. and pretty well aged.
i dont think especially the youngsters these days would like to type to play a game.
also where is for example the space quest remake and the original police quest?
I was personally pretty surprised that the King's Quest series doesn't include the King's Quest 1 remake. The original isn't bad, but it isn't the version I played and it doesn't carry the same memories that the remake did.

As for the price, part of that is what they can get, and part of that is probably contractual obligations.

granted, atleast include the originals/remakes.

and obviously they are bound by contracts, but contracts can be looked back upon.
gog could say hey we sold this and this amount of copies perhaps if we could lower it we might be able to sell more...
The price will most likely fall over time. If not, just wait for a sale.

As for the remake, it's a shame they didn't include it. But considering the Broken Sword series that do include them, it might not be for lack of interest, but other considerations.

Activision lowering prices? HAH!
Wow, if only someone in GOG.com would be so smart as you!
I'm sure they are just keeping the KQ1 remake and the whole System Shock franchise, locked in a cupboard and they will not release it until they feel like it.

If it's not here it's probably because they couldn't get it, not because they don't want to get it.

Pro Tip: Why all the old games are on Steam?
DRM? Check!
Higher Price? Check!
No support? Check!

doesnt really make sense to include every other game just to release king quest 1 remake on its own later.
also with police quest 1 it does include the remake yet not the original.

also its very easy to get and why wouldnt it include the rights to those particular remakes or originals.
Yes, gogs releases are special, because normally you get the SCI-remakes and not the original AGI-versions. Police Quest is the exception here. The option to make the releases more special and maybe easier to attract the 10$ pricepoint is to add all versions in it, because sierra did so many different releases, as example disk-releases with subtitles vs. cds with voice only, agi-originals vs. sci-remakes, a very rare agi-versioni and sci version of kq4.

And then there is also Freddy Pharkas (not released, just as example), which has more dialogues in the disk version because Al Lowe was bored of preparing the complete voice acting for it ;-)

Well the System Shock is one of those series a lot of people keep hoping to appear on the site and check for it weekly and with it's release then a lot more games might be unnoticed/missed. (Example: I check the site every week in hopes of Quest for Glory... If I don't see it then I keep checking each week, but if they released it then I would check only every two weeks and I could potentially miss some other games etc etc).

"locked in a cupboard and they will not release it until they feel like it. " Well that's what they will do with some of the major releases... Cant have all the top games of all time released within a year.

PS: "Wow, if only someone in GOG.com would be so smart as you! " Don't be a dick to people that have done nothing wrong

Anybody that's coming here weekly just for System Shock really needs to find a hobby. The rights are a sufficient mess that it's unlikely that they'll ever be able to get cleared to release it. Sure, they did manage to get EA, so it's still possible, but it's not likely to happen anytime soon with that many self interested parties involved.

That being said, we do get a trickle of new games every week which allows for at least some people to play most of the game through before the next one comes.
